I'm looking at a car tomorrow, and just wanted some more experienced opinions/thoughts on what to look for.

This is the one I'm looking at:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ew/page/1/radius/10/postcode/b347he?logcode=p

Looks pretty tidy in general, but obviously that ding on the sill/door on the rear passenger side isn't great, and that pic also shows a bit of bubbling/rusting on the arches.

From the pictures, would that be cause for concern with regards the structural integrity of the car and possible MOT failure, or is it just cosmetic, provided the arch is treated properly?

Also, if anyone has one of these, advice on things to look out for would be very welcome too :)

Many thanks!

yeah i'm looking at a couple of Mondeos as well, but last time I made a thread about this I was told Mondeos smell, and then the thread was deleted... :p

That's quite a lot of car for £1,200 but I too would go for a Mondeo as sorting issues would that bit cheaper than a Mazda, not by miles though.

So the Mondeo I'm hoping to look at (if still available - should be, only just appeared on autotrader this evening!) is a 2.0 zetec with 101k on the clock - anything to look out for on that? Similar price - £1,200

No, Mazda's are nice, but that particular car looks to be from a fairly grotty part of brum.

I've had two

Check the clutch they are expensive to replace
A/C gives out on pipework
The boot won't lift with that spoiler, they didn't upgrade the rams with the heavier spoiler
Check the boot catch mine was dodgy
The Strut brace across the top rusts don't panic
The 2ltr petrol is a crap engine the diesel is so much better, but comes with the repair costs
Front bumpers are made of cheese so if they have been knocked never again line up
The bodywork is made of kitkat wrappers so expect dinks and ripples
My rear arches rusted and that was 4 years ago
