120hz monitor worth it?

Agreed hopefully these news that in october we may have some new 120 hertz better panels will arrive.

I used to have a 30" DELL which was great for gaming however I prefer my 27" 120Hz Iiyama. I do however only play FPS.

For any other application I would recommend 30" DELL.

The thing is if you havent tried a 120hz monitor and you are happy with your 60hz i would say dont switch. Why? because it wont give you any edge(well you get updates 8ms faster can the other guys) and you are limiting yourself when it comes to panels and color reproduction and because once you go 120hz you wont go back to 60hz simply because it will look sluggish and weird as you are accustomed to the 120hz.

Personaly im happy with my S27A950 120hz monitor but would jump in a heart beat if i had the cash for a proper IPS @ 1440p that i could overclock to 95hz+.

I'm holding out for an ultra wide 120hz, but I dunno if it's possible. Is there a technical reason that they don't make TN panels above 1920x1080?

Not going to happen until display port replaces dvi as the dominant interface.

DVI spec limits the bandwidth available, despite cables and graphics cards being capable of much more. Both AMD and Nvidia place artificial limits in their official drivers. 2560x1080 @120hz needs almost 500mhz bandwidth which requires a modified driver to achieve. With this in mind, no company is going to release such a monitor.
