********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Been playing since around 1am Monday night, off and on obviously :p, and have only just done my first heist. This is such an excellent game.

Being an avid PC gamer and despite saying I would wait until it inevitably comes out on PC for the better graphics etc...I have to say the PS3 version really impressed me, the game looks fantastic, looks like I'll be picking it up now :p

Installing the GTA 5 Disc 2 (Play disc) on a USB Stick for Xbox 360

I went and got a 16GB USB Stick today to test out this 'better performance' thing for GTA 5 by installing the 1st Install disc onto the internal HDD and the 2nd Play disc onto a USB Stick rather than running the Play disc in the DVD Drive.

I got a Sandisk Extreme 16GB USB 3.0 stick from a certain purple shirt wearing electrical store. The USB Stick won a comparison review so I figured speed is of the importance here - http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/usb-3.0-thumb-drive-review,3477.html

I know they were tested under USB 3.0 and the 360 only supports USB 2.0 but I figured if this Stick is quick in USB 3.0 then it should sustain a good speed in USB 2.0. (I think the max is 35mb/s for USB 2.0 protocol if someone can confirm this). Its also worth noting in that comparison shootout that some Sticks are slower (a lot slower!) than others so its possible that some sticks may not run at the full potential of USB 2.0. AKA, poor read/write speeds = slower.

Anyway, the stick was formatted by the 360 and I installed the 2nd Play disc on to it. Now, has it made a difference compared to running from the DVD.........? I couldnt see any 'obvious' leaps in no texture pop in or huge improvements in FPS but it seems to run the game nice and smooth so Im happy.

Digital Foundry did a comparison here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWNLTE38O1k

What I can confirm is (and this is for sure)...The game does not use the DVD Drive after launching the game with the Play disc installed to a USB Stick. It reads the DVD at the start (you have to have the DVD inserted) which I guess is a copyright/DRM thing and then it falls silent after a couple mins. From then on, the 360 is a lot quieter and this will hopefully prolong the life of the DVD drive. If the USB Stick dies then its easily replaced.

Thanks for that neoglow, good to know. I'm planning on buying a USB 3.0 stick when I pick the game up in the next few days so your feedback is appreciated!. :)

he Hotel Assassination – Invest In Beta Pharmasuticals, BAWSAQ
The Multi Target Assassination – Invest In Debonaire
The Vice Assassination – Fruit shares, BAWSAQ
The Bus Assassination – Lester suggests avoiding Vapid Motor Company, so sell if you have any shares in that company.
Construction Assassination – Invest In Gold Coast Development

Yup, I made a nice amount of cash for all three characters using this method.

Stock market manipulation??

buy stocks in taco bell then go around with a rpg blowing up all the KFC's you see is what i think some people have suggested.

try it and let us know if it works and how much you invested and how much it rose by.

alternatively after selling share's in taco bell, buy KFC ones at the new lower price and then go around blowing up all the taco bell's.

now if you do this enough times you should get to know where all said restaurant's are making it easier to do and you should make more money faster as a result

Just tried to do the whole Flyus and went about blowing up Airemu and then investing in auguryinsurance and blowing cars up and causing mayhem. But still the market had 0 effect. :(

As for Taco+KFC im yet to try, but where the hell are they located on the map? half the restaurants have nothing to destroy

Okay so I'm about 40 hours invested now. Story missions are done, what can I say. This is the best game made to date.

I would happily sit there right now and do them all over again, with a few differences now knowing what I do such as what to invest in and how to make the most of that investment. (I put 2 million into airemu and went around blowing up all other airlines, specifically flyus and made a ton of cash)

By the end all characters have 15-20 million, plenty to do what you want really.

I love the fact that past characters are mentioned, or even in it such as Packie McReary and the few nods to the non-HD people, such as Tommy Vercetti's daughter.

Epic isn't enough to describe it, can't wait for online and in the mean time I'll probably dump another 40 hours in just free-roam and mission re-plays.

Without saying any spoilers (i already know the big one due a dick on another site who posted it in the comments section of a video) can somebody answer this question:

Can the assassination missions be done after the story is complete?

I have him on ignore, so thanks to whomever quoted this.

This is the single, most useful and helpful thing I have ever seen you post.

What's the craic with buying this on the high street?. I was in 3 different supermarkets today, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda and none of them had it in stock. Both the Tesco and the Asda were the biggest of their type in my area but I just got a 'Nah m8, we sold out' from the spotty oiks behind the counters. :p

GTA is popular, just a bit. Most places are fresh out.

My friend spent 4 hours going from shop to shop two days ago and eventually found one.

pre-order next time :p

It's also wrong. Buy Vapid after you've done the mission. Buy Vapid with all characters as soon as the assassination is complete.
