Is my Sapphire 7850 dead ?

Is it a dual BIOS card?

Your problem sounds very similar to one I had when I got a new motherboard. I have a 6950 with dual BIOS, flashed to 6970 shaders unlocked.

The new board will not POST with the 6950 set to the flashed BIOS but it all works absolutely fine when using the stock 6950 BIOS.

Hi mate , thanks for the input.

The only thing I can say is I've been using the board for a good few months now. I was using the 7850 with this board and same setup perfectly. Just one day turned on and no post. That's the only reason I ended up with a new 7870 which does the same. System is booting but nothing on the screen.

Been trying different things but no joy at all. It's got to be either board or psu problem I think.

I know there's switches that detect when a gpu is installed, they can fail but still doesn't explain why your older card works, could be something to do with gen3 pcie Idk but its definitely weird

All you can do now is rma the board

Yeah it's one of the strangest problems I've ever experienced.

I've arranged my dad to bring over his PC this week. I'm am going to change out his toughpower 850w psu and install in mine. If it still does not work the yes it's got to be the board. But if it works then pointing towards power feed.

In my head if the pcie slot is damaged or faulty then it just does not work. It surely can't pick and choose what to work with. One other point is the 5570 card does not require a power pin it's bus powered. Both the others require 1 and 2 pcie power pins. Tbh a psu is much cheaper to replace these days...... Lol

Thanks for your continuous help wazza. Top man
