39 dead according to bbc news. Claimed by some Islamist group or another. 60 killed at a funeral in Iraq too. Doesn't seem to be getting as much coverage for some reason. All I can say is fml.
30 people are killed every single day in Iraq in sectarian attacks on average.
Figure might have dropped a bit, but disturbingly 60 dead, isn't too far from the norm there.
Every day the lose more on average than the worst attack of the Northern Ireland 'troubles' brought. Its utter madness, but the threat is inward, not outward, so gob currently done as far as the West are security concerned.
This random event in Kenya is not good, Kenya is a stable place, one of the most stable in Africa. Its where they drop off the Somali pirates to be tried and jailed, as if they leave them to Somalia, they just get released.
Southern Sudan and the North are at loggerheads over territory, there are certain provinces close to the border who wish to join the south, but the Northern army is deployed to subjugate and use force to stop such an event occurring. Its not that widely reported, as frankly, no one really cares. Which is a damn shame for the people of Southern Sudan, but they didn't give a flying *&^& about the massacres in Darfur province that occurred every day and every week, proper ethnic cleansing, so why would they care about a few Iraqis.
