New Car - MK7 Golf GTD

I saw one of these on the road yesterday. Looks pretty aggressively styled which made me :) then I saw the TDi and I went :( engine surely doesn't do the styling any justice.

Interior pics would be nice!

Glad you're happy with it, it's always nice to get the things you want :)

I cannot, however, fathom how expensive golfs are. In my opinion 27k for one of these is absolute madness. I paid 19k for my 1 series and I would have only considered a golf if it was considerably cheaper than that.

£26.5 k on a pretty ordinary generic euro box, the worlds gone mad, its not about being able to afford it, anyone can afford 26k on finance. But I'd be wanting something a bit special for that kind of outlay. But then I bet a base spec Golf is prob best part of 18k nowadays.

I like it. The interior is a very nice place to be and I like the exterior styling. I probably wouldn't buy one new though.

I like the new golf, its "nice" inside, out and to drive. As for the price, wouldn't be mine for that money but someone needs to buy these cars new and its not like the golf is alone in being priced stupidly nowadays

Appreciate it's not everyone's flavour but I'm more than happy with it so in the end that's all that matters.

I was also considering RS Megane, Golf GTI, Merc CLA and a Focus RS. In the end the GTD offered the best combination of performance and economy. I know I could have got a lot more car for second hand money but I like buying new cars.

I did once then I looked at how much cash I was crapping on toys and stopped.

How is a Golf diesel anything like a Focus RS?

I like the car and the engine is decent for a diesel but I can't get my head around spending that much on one.

Hope you enjoy it (and I'm sure you will) but given what a 12-24 month old one (admittedly a Mk.6, but still a good car) would have cost, I would have put my money there instead.

This forum is being somewhat obtuse with you OP, most of the naysayers are exceptionally savvy with the car market and if you'd have not said how much you paid, they would have guessed in the region of £25k without even looking on VW's website.

However...

RenaultSport Megane and Golf GTD in the same shortlist. Struggling to understand that one!

Enjoy your new motor OP.

Very strange shortlist OP, having the RS in the same list as the GTD. I'm guessing it's the running costs/styling which pulled you towards the GTD more so then the RS.

I would have gone CLA, there's something about that car that really appeals to me. The standard wheels on the CLA are disgustingly small though.

I hope you enjoy the purchase OP.

but I like buying new cars.

Did you buy it with cash or have you financed this car? Because its all well and good saying you like buying new cars but if its in finance it can't really be compared to the £27k second hand market that is making you seem like you bought a diesel hatchback for Porsche 911 money.

.

same as with fox's focus RS comment im guessing OP is not one of the many motors posters who hoon around public roads like they are a racetrack and like many of the general public bases his opinion of cars on their looks rather than on BHP and track times.

all of his shortlist has that aggressive sporty hatchback look to them

i like these mk7's anyway , and in the best colour.

Of course it's financed as you would have had half your brain removed if you were going to spend £27K cash on a Golf. He said he likes buying new cars and spent what he could afford on one that he liked and what he got is by no means a ****ter. If he did have £27K in cash lying about it its blatantly obvious that he'd have used it as a deposit on a new M5. ;)

Struggling to see the link between people hooning around public roads and people who wouldn't buy a diesel golf.
