Is the H80i Enough?

Is Corsair's H80i powerful enough to keep temps sufficiently low on a delidded, but overclocked Haswell? I know the top air coolers give better performance for less money, but the idea of not having a monster heatsink to deal with when swapping out components appeals to me greatly.

Anyway, this is a hypothetical question - basically doing a bit of research ahead of a new build in the next couple of months. This hypothetical Haswell would be modestly overclocked in a case with great airflow (FT02) if that matters. Any feedback from those in the know would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I should probably have put this in the overclocking and cooling forum, so feel free to move it mods if you think it best!

My friend recently brought one of the new I7s and he uses the new gen H60 and his max temps are 40-45 and idle 28-33 so a H80 is more then capable

Ahh his CPU is an Ivybridge 3820 none K

His case is a Coolmaster CM690 2 Lite

Once you have delidded your CPU it will work fine with any cooler, My gen2 refurb H60 keeps my Q8200 at 40-45 on load and 28-33 on idle so they are pretty good at keeping the temps down!

Also buy a corsair SP120 performance fan for a push pull, SP120 pushing and the provided fan sucking then have all other fans blowing in so there is constant cool air in the case to blow into the Rad

I appreciate the pedantry.

Anyone with an actual H80i on a delidded Haswell CPU able to give feedback?

This wouldn't make much of a difference, as there are millions of different CPU's out there. My haswell stays cool due to low volts with a relatively good OC without a delid and a "****" air cooler.

Someone else's might need +0.2v more to get the same OC, and even with a delid, taht person will not have better temps.

The CPU's are individual, so experiences are very relative.

What kind of OC are you aiming for? The H80 will be enough for anything near 4.5ghz I am sure, IF your cpu is capable of that. Temps will vary anywhere between 60 and 90 in load, delid or not. No way of knowing.
