If your SH2 is in normal mode then make sure you have it like this to work with TBB meter;

Advanced Settings -> Security -> Firewall

Strange question - does the superhub transmit on 2 channels at once?

I went over to my mums and for some reason decided to fire up inSSIDer on my phone. It showed her wifi being broadcast on channel 1 and again on 11.

She has no kind of repeaters or extra AP's. In fact she doesn't use the wifi at all as her PC is connected via homeplugs.

the STM seems buggy tbh. sometimes it kicks in and other times it doesn't.

Ye I don't even know anymore. I downloaded about 30gb a few days back and nothing happened then today I grabbed around 10-15gb around 3-4 and got capped to 80mbps from 120.

It sounds like it is set to use two 20Mhz channels to use 40Mhz of the spectrum, which is should help get more wireless speed but doesn't work that well if the 2.4Ghz band is crowded with lots of peoples routers nearby fighting for the limited channels available.

my area has been upgraded to 8 downstream channels / 2 upstream channels. before I was on 6 downstream channels / 1 upstream channels and I wasn't getting the full 12Mb, only 9-10.50Mb

I had to do this test early, because by about 11am the speed will start to drop.

Is that you sorted now gareth? I recall you posting quite a few problems with your VM connection.

I took out my new contract on 1st August 2013 via retentions and paying £13.75 a month for 60mb broadband. Last week I received the standard letter from VM stating my broadband cost was increasing by £2.50. No mention of the increase when I took out the contract so barely 2 months in and I am now paying more. Emailed the retentions woman who sorted out my deal and she sorted it all out in 60 seconds. Added another £2.50 to my goodwill discount. Sweeeeeet. It is very useful having an email address for someone who can do stuff.

no mate.

early mornings I get the full download speed and now full upload speed. but from about 11am the download speed slowly drops and by about 4pm i'm down to about 2-20Mb.

Thanks.

All of her neighbours are on 1 & 11 so yes, it's pretty crowded on those channels! Like I say, the wireless only gets used very occasionally and only ever by me so I'm not so bothered really, it just seemed a little strange.

Spoke to VM about canx my 3 services (TV phone and 120mb) @49.50 to just broadband. They offered 120MB only for £28.50 on a 12mth. I declined mentioning its not much better than a new customer and gave my 30 days so I might get a call I may not.

I'm in the PL( area of Plymouth, I have (HAD) a steady 100mb connection to about a month ago, then it slowed right down, lucky in the evening t0 25mb, at the moment it's 6mb. We had 1 engineers visit, numerous phone calls to Virgin ,just came off the phone to the Indian call centre, guy their was helpfull and did everything he could do, but in the end comes down to over utilization in the area, they've just upgraded the speeds on the lower tiers and left people on the faster speeds to pay for it.

I pay £32.50 for 120MB and phone M. (was £29.xx, but they've increased the price mid-contract)

my 12m contract is over, so looking to phone them up. I only need BB, but last time I was renewing, the price was lower when taking phone than BB on its own. It took me 3-4 calls to get that price, 1st person was funny enough to offer me higher price that I would get if I leave and rejoin as new customer.

I've been with them for about 6 years and want to stay, but in the worst case there's BT cabinet with Infinity around 15m from the house, so it won't hurt too much if that happens.

what is realistically, based on your experience, the lowest price I can get on new 12m contract for 120MB alone and 120MB and M phone?

Well the quote of £28.50 for 120MB is the cheapest I've seen with the price increase so far. That was given on my 4-5th call to them and the girl genuinely seemed annoyed I didn't take the deal. Was told they wouldn't let me back as customer for 3 months if I disconnected. Id give them a call.

I have heard that it costs £99 for a technician to come and move a virgin media box and super hub from one room to another, even if it is already wired in the past. I am looking to do this, but i dont even use the box, i just want the superhub at another part of the house. Will it still cost £99 to move it?

Has anybody done requested this or done this before?

I upgraded from 60mb to 100mb through the Virgin Media site and the bill amount has increased, it shows that i'm on 100mb on my account yet my maximum speed is 60 still.

Could this be because I have the original Superhub?
