Who here has actually realised their childhood vision for life as an adult? And did anyone unexpectedly yet unregretably go in the complete opposite direction?

Now I'm talking childhood here, kiddie dreams (oi, stop gigging!). Not your education-influenced teens if you know what I mean.

Me personally, I remember always wanting to be a criminal mad scientist, not really for taking over the world or what not I don't think, I think it was the gadgets and money, and general "madness" :D Never made it unfortunately :( I'm a dull, career computer nerd in an office with no personal island with hidden HQ in the sands or rocket launchers in the cliffs... Life sucks.

I always wanted to be a weatherman. I have no idea why, but my Mum loves bringing it up when this sort of topic comes around in conversation.

Edit/ As of today, I am still not a weatherman.

I wanted to fly, I've flown in several light aircraft and I fully intend to get a PPL, just haven't got there yet.

From the age of 12 in 1981 I wanted to get into programming. Unfortunatley I was successful and I'm still in the IT industry :(

Yep, I wanted to move abroad and I am pretty glad I did it. Still got to reach my target country but I'm still working on that one.

Likewise (tho a few years later as I was born in 1981) - I got out of doing it as a job though - I found it killed my enthusiasm for doing it as a hobby which I get a lot of enjoyment from (spent a lot of time modding quake 2 and 3, etc.).

As a very young child I always wanted to be at the cutting edge making new discoveries in science or exploration (mainly space) neither of which I've exactly attained or that likely to.

I wanted to be a taxi driver or a policeman. I'm not either of those.

I did get into the Metropolitan Police though, I was waiting for a start date, then the Conservative government came in and started making cuts, which meant that I, along with around 1600 other people waiting to start (after a 6-9 month (can't remember exactly) process with various stages) got told that they were not longer recruiting.

Police officer or pilot. Thank god I never joined the police as I hold a very low opinion of anyone in the police force (they all seem to have some sort of chip on their shoulder and feel better than everyone else!).

Went to RAF Cranwell but found out the reality of being a pilot wasn't as glamorous as the films! But nowadays wish I had stuck with it and not quit :(

Nowadays work in oil and gas after years in the IT industry.

Not... a Steven Seagull?

i eat sweets for breakfast and own an astonishingly expensive bicycle. However, i dont live in a luxurious articulated lorry with my best friend from primary school, or have a ferrari F40

Objective not entirely met

I always wanted to run my own Amusement Arcade back in the 80's when they were real fun. I partially achieved my goal ... my own private Games cabin. Not to dampen anyones spirits but we are all told to work real hard and you will be rewarded with great retirement funds, holidays, etc. what rubbish, and is only said to keep us in line.

I always wanted to be a barber then father got wind of it and said it was gay and for women and thus i joined the army. I left the army 3 years ago, maybe its time i went for it :D Kinda forgot about it till i read this
