Childhood dream vs. Reality

I wanted to be a policeman, still kinda do. But as Lenox Lewis once said, "I don't know if i could keep my cool" in certain situations.
It's not for me.

From the age of 5 I wanted to join the Royal Navy, I think it was being in awe of all those huge warships(as they appeared to a 5 yo) coming home from the Falklands war and my mum telling me about what happened 1/2 way around the world.

Aged 16 I joined and served 6 years. After all the boyhood dreaming, turns out I didn't like all but 7 months(a West Indies deployment:p ).

You know what **** it ima get on the blower to the collage when it opens :) Theres call for it where i love there all useless here lol

Good lad! It's your life to do whatever you want, but we only have this one and it's quite short so act now :)

I wanted to be a Chef/Vet/Teacher/Doctor at various points. then I found computers and that all went out the window. If I could do it again I'd study harder and become a doctor or do something with advanced mathematics

I wanted to be a cop when I was a kid so I could carry a gun. I think the only dream I have realised is eating pizza whenever I want and playing video games a lot. It's not all it's cracked up to be.

Are you drunk?! From what I can make out, I hope it goes well!

I Squark has said, I always wanted to be a pilot. I haven't managed to begin a career in flying (I'm 23) but am hoping to get my PPL at some point, but I doubt I'd ever fly commercially as I believe it's horrendously expensive. Just a PPL is about £7,000, and I've already been to university so have that debt to deal with!

Young childhood I can't really recall what I wanted.

From early teens I decided I wanted to be a solicitor (for whatever deluded reason) and followed that dream doing well in school, took the right courses in college and done well, went to a good university to study law.... And blinking hated every moment :p

In a different career field now but on the plus side a law degree from a good uni has always done me well.

As a kid I wanted to join the police, then later thoughts turned to wanting to be in the Royal Navy.A bad bike smash at 17 put paid to the idea of a naval career, and as I have a friend who has been a copper for over two decades and is just counting the days until he can retire now I'm kind of glad I didn't pursue that career. My other big dream was to be an author, and I am still writing.
Its nice to have a plan, and dreams though, as I have just sort of drifted through life, and suddenly found myself near 50!
What I should have done is open a computer overclocking site several years ago...:p

I do not yet own a Ferrari Testarossa or have a chair that hangs from a track on the ceiling to move me around my play room

I always wanted to be Involved in Music/production, it always seemed so cool to me,

then spent 18 years as a sound engineer, working with a lot of famous and also unknowns, had a great time.

was bored after 5 years, worked it as a 'job' for the next 13, touring was toughest,

gave it up when my First daughter was 5, worked in retail since.

I lived my Dream, and it bored me eventually, like most dreams :D

I wanted to be either a footballer or a banker. Ended up a Geophysicist. I also wanted to go to an English University (I originate from Mauritius) and managed that.

Always enjoyed the outdoors and the animals of the planet so wanted to do something that would take me travelling all over the world to study new and exotic animals.

I work in IT life is crap :(

I wanted to be a lawyer after watching too many American films/dramas.

I became a nurse instead.

Quite the difference!

My brother is trying to live this dream... He's 30 about to finish a PhD, I don't think people realise how hard it is to get the enjoyment they initially wanted from a life with animals.
