I currently have a couple of Akasa Vipers on a H50 at the moment, but looking at changing to a H100i shortly. Initially I was just going to get a couple more Vipers and have a push pull setup again, but I'm not sure if there's a better alternative to this.

I've heard people achieving quite good results with a couple of GT 1850s on their own? Any ideas on what's best to go for here?

i like my corsair SP120 quiet edition fans, they are designed for rads and heatsinks so they should be a good choice

i will be getting a h100i soon and i will be running the SP's on mine :)

the sp120's are not great in my experience, too noisy for their airflow/pressure

my suggestions would be any of these. the Gentle typhoons are preferable if you have a fan controller for them. The fans I suggested otherwise are pwm which I find is preferable to normal non pwm fans are the motherboard can control them better.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Noiseblocker NB-eLoop Fan B12-P - 120mm PWM £15.98
1 x Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm Focused Flow PWM Cooling Fan £15.98
1 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin £14.98
1 x Akasa 120mm Piranha high performance PWM air ripper blade fan £13.99
1 x Akasa Smart n Cool PWM Fan 120mm - Black £9.98
Total : £79.62 (includes shipping : £7.25).

The akasa pirahnas are awesome fans, I used one on my brothers pc for his megahalems and it is better than 2 push pull akasa apaches (same as the vipers but black with a lower top speed) absolutly silent.

I had the 1850GTs on mine but found them a bit loud. I'm now running the 1450GTs without any of the Link Software and the temps and noise levels are great.

I have the high performance PWM SP120's on my H100i (4 of them)

It's OK - realistically another type of fan isn't going to make much of a difference either way.

My case is full of HP PWM SP120's or AF140's and to be honest it's not the quietest of rigs, even when in 'balanced' mode.

To be honest there is a reason why people rate the GT1850/1450's so high, despite being an ugly fan they perform up there with the best. And everyone will tell you to use some method of controlling the fans so they aren't at full speed else they can be a bit loud.

Corsair fans look good but like most people agree they are noisy and not terribly great on the performance-price aspect considering the other choices out there.

Id vote on the GT1850's or if your not able to control their RPM down that well the GT1450's.

Another note, while push/pull can be effective take into account the space required for it and the £50 on decent fans for it :D

I run 2 of the SP120 Performance Editions on PWM and provided you set your PWM profile right then they're pretty quiet.

I only use a pair in push and I don't see them going over 1500rpm when under Prime/OCCT and the temps stay under 50°c

Ah well I've taken a punt and gone for 2 GT 1850s while there was still a couple left. They'll go nicely with my Scythe Kaze controller I'm sure :)

I'll have these exhausting out the top of my 650D, but the question is whether to go Push or Pull now?

Push is recommended by Corsair though there's little difference between the two. Pull will give you less dust build up in the radiator.

I would have recommened the Scythe GT's or the SP120's. For anybody else deciding there's a very well done review here http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/120mm-fan-roundup-4.html.

I went with the SP120 Performance and mine spend most of the time at 700rpm where they are totally silent. They only get slightly audible around 1200rpm but still give great cooling. The GT's are not PWM so no good to me as I want the process to be fully automated.
