Hi i am currently running the ASUS Rampage xtreme ii motherboard
with a LGA 1366 intel i7 cpu with a gtx 470 gcard

i have SSD and also 120hz monitor 1000w psu 16 gig ram

i want to upgrade my graphics card to a gtx 780 but am concerned it may bottle neck due to the cpu can anyone advise on best solution,
also are any of the current intel i7 processors going to fit on this motherboard
ie the 1155 or the 2011 cpu

any help would be great " confused" :D

The 1366 socket was discontinued some time ago. You wouldn't see the whole benefit the 780GTX is capable of offering with it.

My advice would be to spend the money on a decent CPU / MOBO / RAM upgrade

What is your budget?

Honestly, you'll not really get another CPU for your board, you'd be better off overclocking the hell of it and saving for Haswell/Broadwell or Ivy-e. The 1155/2011 processors will not for board.

I would also advise against the 780, the 770 is better price vs performance but the 7970 is a steal at £260 <<<<THIS is the bargin!!!!

any recommendations on which manufacturer to use regarding the AMD cards ?
+ i dont pay VAT in jersey so i might get an even better deal :)

my budget will probably be around £500
i could probably stretch that a little to £600

i could but i really want to build a new water cooled pc and im clueless how to build it myself ive seen a few nice systems from us site digital storm seems the most reasonable value from what i can find unless you know any good custom builders for water cooled custom pc's on that budget £3500.
i guess i want this pc to run some of the new games but just last me around 6mnths until i can get this cash for a proper high end water cooled rig! :)

thanks for all your reply's ....
and anyone know's where i can get a good quality water cooled rig built leave me some
info here im after, high end cooling for cpu, gcard, some corshair 120mm fans, i have a coolermaster cosmos 2 case so that's ok.
ive just seen some amazing rigs on here and got the Urge to go down the water cooling road :)

Go with snips build minus the cooler and worry about the watercooling till you've got more dosh brings you under 600 and will be a big ass jump in performance from what you've got.
