Buying contact lenses online

Anyone do it? I know it's loads cheaper.

I used to wear 30 day lenses with Specsavers before I left a year ago, interested in getting into wearing contacts again but thinking of going with dailies as I don't wear lenses every day... probably like twice a week so daily disposables would last me for ages.

I've got my old contact lens letter with my prescription on so I guess I can use that. Anyone got any good websites?
 
I used too but I found my eyes started getting sore with certain brands and went back to the optician who monitors my eyes and I had loads of trails to find the right brand.

I'm on the weeklies, put them in Monday take them out Sunday rinse and repeat, no cleaning no fluids no boxes. I was on monthlies but they were quite errr robust.

Can you sleep in them?
 
I usually go and have my eye test and get the prescription then order online

I used to wear daily disposables (astigmatism) but the optician suggested going to fortnightly silicon hydrogel - the webby I linked to were a good chunk cheaper than the optician and I order when I need them rather to signing up to some monthly plan ;)
 
think im paying £18 a month for 30 day "all day all night" lenses and 3 bottles of solution with free check ups and free pair of specs every 2 years at specsaver. Always thought it was good value what sort of money you lot paying?

I just got 6 months (although I'll get longer than that out of them) for just under £100

I get a free eye check and money towards specs through work

The opticians wanted closer to £35 / month due to the prescription so it's a no brainier for me
 
Price isn't actually that much cheaper.

With Specsavers, you get free glasses with a scheme plus all your aftercare free.

If you buy CL's online, you're limited to what aftercare you get (if any).

At least with Specsavers you can just walk into a store and they'll have a look at it for you.

it is for me as specsavers want to send you lenses every month.

1 months supply will last more like 4-6 months for me.
 
Been thinking about trying some contacts myself. Anyone recommend some comfy daily versions? Probably wouldn't wear them everyday, just now and again.

It's probably best to try a few different ones as everyone is different. I got a free contact lens trial from a local independent optician, so perhaps have a look around. I bought the first lot from them out of courtesy but now buy online a getlenses

I can only wear the Acuvue Moist Dailies as anything else is like having glass in my eyes. They don't dry my eyes out and I can easily have them in 12+ hours.
 
How old's your prescription? Might be worth getting a current one. Tesco do free eye tests or £15 for eye test and contact lens test (* I think you have to pay if you already wear contacts, double check with them). Their lens prices seem to be about the same as online retailers too. For me my lenses turn up within maybe a week of being ordered.

When I started wearing contacts they gave me 4 appointments (initial test + trial/teach thing + checkups) and 4 trial lenses (they had to adjust my prescription after the checkup) and it only cost me £15. Not too bad!
