*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Lots of people are going to fall onto the Wii U for those exact same reasons.

It's just starting to deliver the games it needs and it's also becoming clear it's more powerful than many had it down for.

I'm actually really impressed with this approach though in terms of driving sales...teaming up with a major supermarket is an incredibly smart idea and with all the favourite characters available soon enough there's something for everyone.

Then you throw up Call of Duty, Watchdogs, Assassins Creed etc and the library will start to look rather robust.

I just hope this holiday season works out well for Nintendo :)

Just got around to registering a bunch of club Nintendo points there as I had a few expiring as I hadn't used them...was up at 8300 (it took ages tonight) and bought the plush ? block that makes the noise...was tempted by the Pikmin keyrings but I'll hold onto the points a bit longer because they are due to review the products on there. They still have Nintendo Wii and DS points for stars, would much rather they changed these to eshop points!

Call of Duty, Watchdogs and Assassins Creed will sell horribly on the Wii U don't even kid yourself thinking otherwise.

Whilst it's good that Nintendo are teaming up with Tesco it should never have been needed how almost a year after release they still haven't got the message across that the Wii U is a new console is quite simply baffling, nobody confuses the Xbox One or PS4 as being anything other than new consoles, but then Nintendo did have the retarded idea to call their new console the 'Wii U' so I guess that doesn't say much.

As for Club Nintendo why didn't you go for one of the Mario Kart trophies that are up at the moment, the Lightning Cup one looks really nice.

It's shame really, most people i know aren't aware that the console even exists,
granted they're not into gaming as much as me but i can't remember the last time i saw the Wii U advertised on TV.

That being said I'm still looking forward to the new Mario, Zelda etc.

Ordered Rayman for £20.99. Good Christmas present.

Really looking forward to Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong now, too.

I don't think they will quite sell horribly Broken...maybe not as much as 360 and PS3, that much is a given but I have a feeling they'll do a lot better this time as they're actually available upon release day, we shall see however :)

Well they are attempting to do so now, you can't really blame them for doing it as they have to! The messaging etc has been all wrong, they shouldn't have stuck with the brand but they thought it would be blind loyalty...featuring the controller did not help one bit as in all honesty it is hard to get away from the accessory thing.

I've enough for one of the Mario Kart trophies right now...I'm certainly thinking about it ;)

Splinter Cell was released at the same time on the Wii U as it was on the others, it only sold around 200 copies in the UK at release and only sold 5000 in its first month in the US, you can bet it sold significantly more on the other platforms.

Splinter Cell isn't as big a deal nowadays as the aforementioned games. I'm not expecting them to set the world alight but Call of Duty will do significantly better than Splinter Cell on Wii U.

Conversely Rayman Legends is doing fairly well on Wii U is it not?

Nintendo has announced that, on the 30th of September, server maintenance for the Nintendo Network will last a total of nine hours. This includes both the Wii U and 3DS’s online services.

4pm – 1am (October 1st) UK time

Out of curiosity who is getting Windwaker HD on Friday? And who hasn't played it before?
I've still got my original Gamecube version with guide book. I never finished the game, but thoroughly enjoyed what i played.

From what I've seen it's looking like a great remake.

do i need a premium or is a basic okay?

any good deals on. just looked on game and seen the zelda windwaker 32gb pack for 249.99 also need pikmin 3 :D

The Premium is imo worth it - plus the resale will be easy a few years down the line when it's time to sell it on.

Look at hotdeals uk - I'm sure you can get a £10 off code for that bundle at Game.

Some of the best games out are:

Super Mario Bros U
Nintendoland
Pikmin 3
Zelda WW HD
Sega All Stars Racing or NFS
Rayman Legends (£20 atm - see earlier posts in this thread)
Wonderful 101
Splinter Cell
COD BLOPS

I'm sure I've missed a few there - just going from memory.

Plus there's some awesome stuff in the Nintendo Eshop.

Tons more AAA titles on the way between now Jan/Feb but there's a Nintendo Direct tomorrow which will outline hopefully some release dates and work in progress.

Wii U & Zelda should be here on Friday, its the one Zelda game along with Majoras Mask that I've not played, so really looking forward to this one.

I saw WW at the show and to be honest I thought it looked terrible, yes it looked bright and shiny but almost to much.. I think the Gamecube version is still the best bet.

What looked good though was Bayonetta 2, that will be the game to make me turn the Wii U on again.
