Eurogamer Expo 2013 - 26th to 29th September

On the way home after an enjoyable day. The queues weren't as ridiculous as last year, but they were still only for people with patience.
Managed to play quite a few games, most notable were Killzone: Shadow fall, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Knack on the PS4 thoroughly enjoyed them all and it justifies my PS4 pre order.
Most dissapointed by the Xbox One controller, I loved the 360 pad, but this feels too small. The surface of the analogue sticks is tiny as well, I found my thumbs aching after a while due to not being positioned correctly. I however did like the rumble in the triggers, in Forza it worked really well letting me know that I was losing traction on the corners. Dead Rising could have been fun as well, but I couldn't enjoy it due to the pad.

What about the DualShock 4, Dav?

Really nice, for a start it's slightly bigger than the DS3, has a good weight to it, the concave sticks were a good fit, although the rumble felt a little overpowering at times. As for the touch pad, I know it's used for the map in assassin's creed and for the owl system in Killzone, it just remains to be seen what other developers have planned for it.

I just got home after being there from 11-7pm.

I started of queuing up for Titan Fall which turned into a 3 hour queue, but it was well worth the 12 or so minutes on it. I really really enjoyed it.

Then went to the PS4 section and played Fifa 14, War Thunder, Drive Club and watched a friend play Knack or w/e it was called which looked very good.

Also managed to get Dying Light(sp) which i thought was pretty good and felt like a much better version of Dead Island.

Then tried a bit of Wolfenstein which brought back very nostalgic memories.

Overall had a brilliant day and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I absolutely loved the DS4, wow what a change over the DS3 and i personally felt it was better than the 360 controller which i love a lot even being a PS3 man and having owned both consoles.

Had a quick try on the Xbox One controller and wow it wasn't as good as the 360 controller imho. It feels like they have gone a step backwards, while the Playstation one has gone two steps forward.

Props to whoever suggested Byron by the way, went in there after the recommendation in this thread with a few friends and all left saying the burgers were insanely good.

This is highly interesting. Xbox One controller worse than the 360 pad but the DS4 better than the DS3 and 360 pad!

All sounds very promising, and cant wait till sunday now, not sure i could do 3 hours for Titanfall though, will just watch from afar :p

Where is this Byron located in relation to Earls ?

Well that is my opinion on it to be honest, although i am sure others opinions will differ.

Having had both 360 and PS3 and enjoying both i always preferred the Xbox Controller as it had weight, was bigger and just felt better overall.

After today though i feel the DS4 as it was bigger, heavier and just feel really natural to hold like the 360 one but better. Yet it was a different feeling when using the Xbox One controller and personally felt worse than the 360 one.

Yeah got to try most the things i went there for bar Watchdogs and had a good day. Titan Fall was epic but the queue was a killer, but was worth it in the end.

Byron was located to the right of Earls Court station on the way out, not the way facing the expo but the one facing all the shops and restaurants.

Just got back from a brilliant day at the Eurogamer Expo.

When we got there the queue for Forza 5 was pretty small so I had a go of that first. I love the Forza games and for me they can do no wrong so I can probably not judge the game itself fairly other than to say I liked it. Having said that the playable track (Laguna Seca) did nothing to show the game/console off as it's a really dull track but some people I was with didn't think it looked that good and couldn't tell the difference between it and the 360 version or even saying that GT6 looked better...

What I can judge is the controller and I was a little disappointed, the grip was nice but it didn't feel as well built with the top bumper buttons being quite clicky and plastic-like. The thumbsticks felt much smaller and too sensitive. Although I though the rumble in the triggers was fine others thought it was distracting and did not represent what was being done in game.

The console itself was not as big as I expected, I liked the glowing Xbox logo on the front but the overall designed was a little boring but still practical. The Kinect on the other hand was massive, I've no idea where I'll put it and can't believe they couldn't make it smaller.

The other game I was interested in was Dead Rising 3, this was quite fun to play and the number of zombies were crazy, it was a nice open world with no loading delays. The downside was the graphics were not amazing, they worked well but lacked the gloss and detail of next gen.

The highlights of the day came next with a visit to the PS4 section.

The first game I played was Knack and I was immediately impressed with the controller. I was a little worried as it looked quite long in the photo's and I wasn't sure about the triggers. My worries were put to rest straight away, the controller was a little bulkier than the DS3 and felt comfortable to hold, the triggers felt very natural with just the right amount of travel and resistance. The thumbsticks were were very smooth and not as loose as the DS3, the concave tops felt nice and gripped well.

Overall I thought that where the Xbone controller may have actually taken a step backwards the PS4 pad had improved vastly and was a pleasure to use.

As for Knack, it looked good was fun but was way harder than it looked!

The console itself was small and looked interesting yet again practical.

Next up was Drive Club, this surprised me, it looked great, handled better than expected and was fun (it wasn't a sim). The other games like Killzone and Assassins Creed were very impressive and the visuals really impressed. Another surprise in the PS4 area was the F2P games Blacklight, Warframe and War Thunder they all oozed next gen quality but were free!

I won't list all the other games I looked/played as it will take forever but it was a great day.

I have both the Xbox One and PS4 on pre-order and will be getting both however I must say that I walked away from the show really impressed with the PS4 but not so impressed with the Xbox One.

Nah I was kidding :)

I see it said all the time on GAF when any slight negativity is posted.

Those XB1 comments are a bit worrying though.

I agree with all of this, went to Eurogamer with an open mind but glad i wen't with PS4 over Xbox One. It was the same feeling with me with the controllers as in my post i mentioned i felt the Xbox One conroller had taken a step backward with the PS4 controller taking two forwards. It felt much more natural to hold than the DS3 where as the Xbox one felt smaller and not as good as the 360 one.

I was around for the whole day but from what i saw of the PS4 titles compared to the Xbox One ones they were more next gen in terms of graphics. All three of the F2P games did look very good and Drive Club although i sucked at it looked amazing. The Xbox titles did look good however but not like the PS4 ones and to be honest there was a lot less on show by Microsoft where as PS4 had a massive area.
