Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

If you have problems i'll hapilly swap my 1080 monitor with you ;):D

Ahaha - you know I've seriously considered that - Can't justify dropping £600 on a better graphics card lol

Is yours the 2gig card or 4?

2Gb - but clocked at 1.3Ghz :(

@ 1440p you dont need to run ultra :) it should be ok, i would think BF4 will run better but i could be wrong :)

Fingers crossed! - BF3 was an appalling experience on Ultra- wish I had kept my 7970 I bought when it was launched. When I switched to 1440p monitor it got its rear handed to it in BF3 on Ultra lol, so I switched to a cheaper 670GTX which gave me the same performance. AMD then released awesome new drivers (sods law) - now I'm regretting have only 2Gb VRAM :( :(

Lets hope late comers won't be at a disadvantage this time round i.e. like with bf 3 and the aircraft with regards to flares, in other words pointless bothering with aircraft if you were late to the game unless you like to die many many times before unlocking them....

Still standby my opinion that DICE shouldn't make everything unlockable and should have the basic items as a standard attachment/feature i.e. a red dot scope for all guns (iron sights are a complete joke in bf 3 and having a decent scope is a massive advantage), defibs, medic/ammo pack, c4, mortar, rpg, stinger, repair tool & flares for aircraft.

I am still very concerned about the balancing in this game "overall" especially since the ac130 will probably be in a lot of maps and imo that is what ruined the AK map pack (at least for rush mode)

I think they should just leave the one time weapons i.e. the USAS with frag rounds and 50 cal auto sniper out of the game completely or have them as standard weapons & balance them properly so there in line with the other weapons.

I still think its a rip off,Im not paying this sort of money for one game no matter how good it is,Game pricing these days are getting out of hand imo...problem is people keep on paying it so of course they will continue to rip people off.

It isn't just that but I find it complete madness to be paying for something that you have no idea about, we have no idea what the other 4 or so map packs will be like.......

The easiest way at this point would be be to pre-order the game via Origin. However unless you want to try some VPN globetrotting then it is very expensive. The beta is open to everyone from the 4th (Friday) so I would just wait until then, it runs until the 15th so you won't miss much.

Thanks for the reply much appreciated, I'll just go for the vanilla version

appauling on Ultra ? It runs ok (not totally smooth due to VRAM limiations) and perfectly playable on my GTX570 (oc'd to 935/2270) at about 50fps on Ultra 1200p

1440p on proper ultra settings has drops below 30fps which I call 'appauling' mate :) (That was on both my 7970 (pre-awesome drivers though) and my current 670).

Sorry - used to playing all games maxed out - but then again I used to have the budget in the past lol. Gunna skip upgrading gfx now though in favour of getting a PS4 - Have me heart set on one!

Anyways - We heard anymore about using the commander thingy on a tablet? - Will it work in the beta? - Is it OS specific?

For multiplayer, I'll probably just put everything to low/off (mesh detail set to ultra though) @1080p again and use a sweetfx config in order to get the best consistent smoothest experience.

IMO BF 3 still looks great with everything on low (except for that god awful depressing filter...), mesh detail set to ultra and a sweetfx config so am sure BF 4 will look just as good, if not better.....

Personally I notice very little difference between high and ultra in bf 3 except for there being more crap floating around :p

TBH, I am looking forward to the new and improved sound engine/system more than the visuals!

ah ok at 1440p fair enough :)

I'm sure if my 570 had 2gb I could skip another gen of cards - its no slouch

Ill set everything as high as possible and work downwards if need be. Can run bf3 maxed at 1920x1200. Unfortunately though, ive had to take a backward step audio wise. Cant currently fit my xonar DX in my board, and the onboard sound on this mobo is pretty poor. Always rated the sounds in bf games very highly.

Hoping my 7950 at 1080p will let me use at least 2xAA. Cant see it happening as even though still similar to BF3 everything has been refined. Watching levelcaps 4 hour video in parts unless they have made ridiculous performance improvements then I tjink it will require extra grunt for ultra.

If the engine hasn't been improved since bf3 then I'm turning everything off... msaa etc caused input lag in bf3 which is a big no no....

69%.... :( I paused it at 25% and when it resumed it went back to 4% :(

Edit: The new drivers are bugged : if I play it on the old ones (which don't include an SLI profile for BF4) does this mean SLi will work but not as great, or I can only play it on one core?

I might give this a watch once it's up and running.

Not sure about the countdown. What time will France get this?

Actually, there are quite a few other live streams set up on Youtube.
