Did you agree with the Strike today?

Cause they don't work on a saturday.

Striking means you have to not work on the day your contract states.

Teachers have lost pay today...and all you can do is say get another job.

I never said strike on a Saturday, I said protest.

You admitted that striking on a Monday because it carries weight - Children as leverage.

Awful, just awful.

I want to support their cause, as I do understand it is a terrible thing when your employer (the government) changing the rules of the game half way through the game but this is not the way to do it.

I want to support it but I just can't.

Why is it awful? Children aren't going to suffer due to one day of missed education. You are so dramatic.

I am talking about the bad example they are setting.

I am sure they kids loves a day off school, hell, they love a month off to extend their summer holiday but it is the bad example of not getting what you want, throw the toy out of the pram.

Why is it a bad example exactly. Capitulating to something you disagree with is a bad example. Standing up for something that you believe in and can verbalise and ethically weigh is kind of a good example even if you've drawn a conclusion not everyone may agree with.

You should go and talk to republicans, they threw a hissy fit which pretty much shut down all federal sector... Bad example pfft, those people are the whipped cream of the society, best of the best and they are allowed to do that for fun and at no loss to themselves... Teachers at least lose their wage...

I never said capitulate or give in.

I said I support the protest, I just don't agree with a strike.

That's not really how schools will present a strike though, more like "Reminder, the teachers are striking tomorrow so do not turn up." Which fails to get across the more subtle nuances of why they are striking and for what.
