Is it possible to get decent battery life out of these?

Left home at 2pm today, where I have made two phone calls (15 minutes in length each) and sent 3 texts.

I have not used any apps (bar my banking once which I used for a couple minutes), and have not surfed on it.

I have tethered it to my laptop and have used it for a couple hours. Screen has been off etc.

And yet, with this minimal usage, I am nearly 100% out of charge.

Is there anyway to combat this terrible battery life? The phone itself is brand new, less than a month old.

I know that getting a couple days is too much to ask for, but to not even be able to go for a day is terrible!

Is this normal, or is something strange going on?

Thanks.

My battery is pretty good. I am not a overly heavy user. Tend to text and have data and wifi running all day (i have a workphone which gets most of the hammering).

Went away for 3 days, used it as a phone and camera has 30% when i decided it needed a charge.

Its not faulty :p Thats the reason why!

GSM radio likes to eat batteries!

Tethered, unless you have plugged into the laptop will still use WIFI/BT and GSM!

It's tethering mate it kills any phones battery just put it on charge while tethering or use usb tethering

Amy tethering IMO can be classified as very heavy usage. Phone will last no more than 3.5-4 hours this way.

You'll find that the N4s standby battery life is rather good.

This is why I won't ever have another phone unless it has 3000+ battery

Cable tether isn't too bad but wifi tether will annihilate any battery

If you're open to rooting and flashing roms then maybe try a custom rom and kernel. You get miles better battery life with them.

Obviously with you saying you were tethering it means there was no wifi in range but when it IS in range then keep wifi on. Connecting to wifi drains less battery using your network for data.

wifi is definitely more efficient

Weak signal is another biggy. The phone uses more power to obtain a signal. That is why i need a big battery, i am on three and in a village
