Looking for info on the GS70. Your opinions?

Just started uni so i'm looking at getting a gaming laptop. It was going to be the Gigabyte P35K but the release date keeps getting pushed back so now i'm seriously considering the GS70. HOWEVER. THAT PRICE TAG is huge..... But i think if i know it will last me a good few years and is worth the money then i will buy it.

Do any of you have one? Whats your opinion etc? Any problems?

[EDIT] Also how big does a 17" laptop really feel? I know its hard to describe haha but i still want portability. If they had a 15.6" one i'd be all over it.

Ironically I'm in the exact same boat, however I've been looking and you can spec the OCUK piranha to the same level as the GS70 except non-raided ssd for approx £1135, a massive price difference tbf.

I'd also be interested in people's opinions on the GS70 when compared to the ocuk laptops.

From what I've seen you're paying for the design on the msi more than anything else.

Myself I can't decide between good spec, design and size.

Reviews wise the GS70 gets decent ones, kit guru loves it apparently. Though I share your reservations about the 17" form factor.

Yeah you are paying a lot for the design. It is literally the only laptop of that size and form factor on the market so you can understand why it's so high. However to me portability is key so i need it to be thin. P35K would've been perfect but i think the release date is just going to keep getting pushed back.

I nearly went for the W230ST for portability.

Just couldn't bring myself to do it. I've waited this long for the P35K, what's 4 more weeks.

Hopefully there will be some real-life reviews from our American cousins by then too - just encase it is a lemon.

The W230ST looks good but apparently it's pretty loud. It's between the GS70 and P35K for me. Just need to decide whether i can wait haha.

It is VERY hard not to spend the money knowing it's there and I will spend it at some point.

I know the P35K ticks all the boxes, and unless another new machine comes out (Samsung haswell anyone) - all the existing machines are a compromise.
