hey guys, ive decided im going with a GTX 760 and im going to have it in SLI later on
the BF4 requirments reccomend 3gb of video ram so i would i be beter off going with the 4gb version of the card? or is it just marketing crap like some people are saying?

ill be playing on a 1080p monitor i do max out my games but i generaly leave things like AA off because quite honestly i really dont see what AA does apart from take frame rate away lol

why go SLI with x 2 760's ?, why not just buy one 780 ? or wait untill the new R290x comes out.

im buying a 760 because its the best i can afford and then ill do SLI later when i have more cash for more performance and 2 760's outdoes a 780 anyways and a titan as far as AMD goes ive had 3 AMD graphics cards and had nothing but problems with them so i just dont want one

ok, well why don't you go for the 4gb vram version ?, makes more sense realy, then once you go SLI, you will have "in theory" 8gb vram lol

also, have you thought about going second hand ? depending on your budget, you might be able to get a 780 ?, or even a 770 at least.

because im only using a single 1080p monitor as far as i know you havnt really needed more than 2gb for 1080p
its just seeing the BF4 requirments recommend 3gb gave me a few doubts but a lot of people are saying its just marketing stuff so i figured i would ask people that know more about PC's than i do if its worth it or not :p

and i went SLI with 4gb cards would i actualy have 8gb of usable vram? i was told you only got the vram from a single card

i wont actualy be buying the cards for a week or two in wich time i get paid again i have a few more parts to buy but i might be able to stretch to a 770 but i wouldnt be able to get a 4gb 770

It looks to me like a 7950 is the best you can afford.

If you've had 3 different AMD cards and had issues you couldn't fix, I think it's time you start looking at the possibility of user error.

the 7950 is an attractive card and i have my eye on it and its cheaper

maybe it is user error but ive tried everything to fix the issues ive had with no success
for example i have game that have horrible stuttering and games that are just totaly unplayable
lord of the rings war in the north is the best example i have of being unplayable lowest settings or highes settings everytime i would move the frame rate would just crawl to a halt and everything ive found online says its an AMD issue
i like AMD because of the performance they offer for the price but ive just been put off them

and besides the benchmark stuff ive been looking at show the 760 as being faster than a 7950

The 760's not faster than the 7950. The benchmarks are out of date that say that.

You can always return the 7950 if you don't like it, but you won't so you won't.

ill trust the benchmarks over what you say and besides theres no way i would buy anything from the current AMD lineup when im building a new system and they are about to be replaced

But the benchmarks say the 7950 is faster than the 760....The 760 is a 670, so you're buying last gens cards under a different name what's the problem with buying current gen AMD irrespective of them being replaced in a few weeks.

On another note, you asked the forum for advice, yet the advice that's been given is ignored/swept aside?

the benchmarks im looking at from bit-tech from july 2013 only in bioshock infinate does the 7950 beat the 760 annd its by a single frame in everything else the 760 is faster it also consumes less power wich is good for me cuz i will be going SLI and it runs cooler

and i havnt ignored the advice the title of the thread is 2gb or 4gb GPU and in my original post i clearly stated i had already decided on the 760 and then i said a little later it may be possible for me to stretch to a 770 either way my mind is made up that im getting nvidia
i asked for advice on wether 4gb of vram would give me any actual real world benefit or not, not wether i should be buying nvidia or AMD

edit:
another review this time from techpowerup august 2013 shows the 760 to be faster in most of the tests than a 7950 it also shows the 760 performing within a frame of the 7970 in a lot of the tests
the only benchmarks ive seen that donw show the 760 to be faster in most games is from toms hardware and even then both cards are performing within a single frame of each other and the 760 used in this test is reference that 7950 isnt so yeah

Or you could wait a few weeks and still buy the old (sorry I mean new :D) AMD cards.

Your attitude isn't going to get you much help, but you're not listening anyway. What you think is the case is untrue, which is what you're being told.

You can get a 760 if you want, but it will be outperformed by a 670 and 7950, and a 7970 is barely any more expensive which is far ahead of a 760.

Look at your benchmarks then, why ask these forums?? You've got all the information available to you.

Still current gen mate, until they've been replaced that is.
