I see this is going through the court at the mo. he is claiming unfair dismissal on grounds of ageism.
For once I fully agree with channel 4, he really is an irritating, sexist, mysoginistic, pantomime tit whose only purpose seems to be to annoy.

I think you wrapped that up nicely. Thread complete!

I have to agree also.

I think that if C4 were re-branding their program and there's no place for him then i think they were entitled to release him . It's no different from a company changing their business plans. Didn't the BBC do a similar thing in the early 90s.. removing, Simon Bates, DLT etc?

Did he even get sacked? From the little bit I caught on the radio it sounded like he didn't have his contract renewed. So I'm not sure how there is even a case unless there is something in writing saying that it would be renewed.

All those appearances on reality TV destroyed his career. He certainly is a character but very niche.

It's like the Chris Moyles saga, only Moyles was well-liked.

They wanted a younger approach to appeal to a younger audience, so they refresh the presenters. Hardly rocket science.

Going through the courts, with all the public character assassination that this case entails, seems like the end result would be a pyrrhic victory for the buffoon.

I'm reminded of the fictional character Conrad Knight from Alan Partridge's Knowing Me, Knowing You, who sued a magazine which called him a c-word in print... and lost.

"So I couldn't call you that word to your face?"
"No, Alan."
"But I could fax it?"
"Yes, that would be perfectly acceptable."

Channel 4 decided they didn't want an ugly irritating caricature of a presenter any more but then gave the job to Clare Balding. LOLChannel4.

I ****ing hate Grimshaw, Radio 1 has turned into a joke now. Stopped listening to the breakfast show a couple of weeks in and now listen to 909. They just had Beiber, 1D etc etc on as guests week after week after week.

Can't see how he can win, they wanted to bring in a younger team just like the bbc did with radio 1.

Whether you agree with C4's right to replace him or not, they did handle it very poorly. His position was not made redundant, so he was in effect terminated with no notice or discussion. I would take exception with that.

I also really dislike Clare Balding. She's boring.

He was encouraged to do reality shows by Channel4. He had his contract cut in the last few years and told to explore other avenues.
