Evening all,

I'm about to burst with rage at this car, it's been nothing but trouble since owning it.

Since buying it in February, it's been in Jaguar for work 11 times, but I've been into Jaguar about issues far more than that. Time and time again I've had to take an hour or two off work to drop the car off or pick it up, and it's frustrating for me, and my manager must get sick of it as well. It's also costing me a lot in petrol money driving it back and forth to the garage each time, and then when they go out and "test" it each time.

The issues have never been car stopping in terms of mechanical issues, minus the brakes problem I had, but it's just issue after issue that make the car an absolute nightmare to drive. I've got to the point now where I just don't look forward to driving it, as I know something is going to happen or one of the outstanding issues that they haven't fixed yet will be driving me crazy.

The final straw was today, went in as my glovebox just opens on its own. Constantly. Like driving along and it will open, I close it, opens again, close it and I think it's stopped, then opens again and clicks like mad because it thinks someone is pressing the sensor. It's embarrassing when someones in the passenger seat and it's constantly hitting their knees and they have to hold it closed to stop it. Anyway, went in, and the guy spent 5 minutes with it and gave it back to me. Said he'd refit the trim as it might have been pushing on the sensor. After driving off and getting half way to work, it starts again, and not only that, there is now an infuriating buzzing sound from where he's not put the trim back on properly. So the problem is now worse.

And that's the problem. A lot of the time they fix something, the problem comes back worse. So now I have to go in again on Monday for them to look at it, and again, either use my lunch to do so or leave work early. They fixed an issue my drivers side window motor, now I have a creaking door panel and wind noise because of them refitting it badly. Again, they're aware of it but haven't managed to sort it yet. They also fixed a problem with some trim that had come loose in the rear of the car, except now since they "fixed" it, there's an audible rattle at 60mph and above, but they can't trace it so I'm stuck with it

I made a thread a while back about my windscreen cracking due to them not fixing the chips they said they would that were in the drivers line of sight, that cost me money out of my own pocket.

I just don't enjoy the car now, and I want rid. Even if they sort these issues, it's had so much trouble that I just don't think I'll enjoy it anymore. It's a shame as it's a fantastic car, or was when I first got it, but I've never been able to enjoy it properly as it's always had something wrong. I think I've been through their entire hire vehicle fleet and driven them as much as I have my own car

So what can I do? I'm going to go in tomorrow and speak to the guy. But realistically, what can I do? Am I just stuck with a lemon? I can't sell it as I'm 6 months into the finance agreement, so feel like I'm trapped. Are there any rights I have with regards to this?

Cheers guys :(

It sounds like the problem is less with the car and more with the workmanship of the garage. Try somewhere else?

It's a mix of both, as 90% of my visits have been for new problems that have come up with the car without their mechanics touching it. The nearest Jaguar garage to me apart from this one is a good hour away which I just can't do easily, especially as I'm starting a new job in 2 weeks. I can't start taking hours off here and there straight away.

It's an XF, 10 plate

I know, I was so so excited when I bought it, and loved driving it until the problems started mounting up

I'd still love to have an XF, just not this one, the ******* thing  lol

Just try and get shot off it losing as little as you can from the deal. Sounds like a Friday car tbh and if that's how your local Jag are at sorting issues I'd try another manufacturer too.

I always wondered why anyone buys BMW/Mercedes/Audi when you could buy a beautiful Jag. I guess it's because they're a bit French.

My BMW was on par with my XFR in terms of problems. My 1st and 3rd XF have been both very good. The dealer though are in a different league Jag trumps the others hands down no contest.

Speak to the finance company as they should be able to help you as they have paid for a car that is basically not fit for purpose and have more power than a single consumer.

Cheers for input guys :)

Out of interest, how did you solve the XFR issues j1nxy?

IIRC he sold it and bought a 3.0d. Sorry to hear you are having a bad time with the car, it certainly sound like a combination of a Friday afternoon car and a very poor dealer.

To be fair, my XF has been fantastic. There was a minor issue with the fuel filler bowl but that was fixed and it's been a great car.

Because nobody who buys a car only on looks and nothing else would buy an executive saloon anyway? Odd post.

This echoes my Mini/BMW ownership. I was back and forth to Mini weekly so got rid after 6 months. Should have learnt my lesson but purchased a BMW and the same saga ensued.

Got rid.
