My old car appeared on eBay :P

exactly the sort of lines i was thinking along. 5k gets you a lot of older car. i guess everyone has different tastes though

ignoring the bad writing and issues he hasnt mentioned.. are these really worth 5k ? with rust and other issues. seems outrageous to me

If it was fully working and in good bodywork condition then yes everyday of the week, I paid 6.5k for it in May 2012. Back then though it was completely stock with <100k miles and great service history, sadly since then it suffered roof bubbling (quite common if the windscreen seal has been replaced badly at some point and impossible to predict when buying, by the time its visually apparent its time for serious restoration work) and got shot blasted by a speeding gritter. After that I was still planning to have the bodywork done and had got quotes as it was easily an economical repair, however the death of the engine put paid to that.

My guess is he fixed the head gasket, then found one or more of the turbos had loused due to running dry at motorway leptons, then went the big single route, then found the head was warped and still losing water (pretty impossible to blow a 2JZ HG without warping the block).

Supra's are still amazing cars for the money and have aged well, especially when compared to contemporaries like the 300ZX, GTO or RX7. I fully intend to buy another at some point when I'm done wafting in the Lexus, the UK spec ones were the highest spec and so command a premium for their age but ceased production in 1996, newer imports especially facelifts will go for more but a mint condition UK spec with 6 speed box will easily fetch five figures.

I believe my old car has made it onto Youtube....now with added subwoofers, and questionable stickers :/

The guy I sold it to was in the army, decided to leave and ended up selling the car shortly after. He said the guy he sold it too didn't really know anything technical about the car which kind of saddened me given the extensive modifications and that it had been so well looked after, but to see it with tacky mods makes me :(

Ouch, so he's removed the down pipe with the first cat so the car cannot pass an MOT and the replacement turbo looks like it will last 5 minutes, the poor old gal :(

If you look through the seller feedback you can see that he bought some the parts for the single turbo conversion and headgasket off ebay...;)

Here links to some the stuff he bought

Its quite mad the someone would modify/repair a car like that, which in theory is quite valuable, with parts like that

Ive always beleived that if youve bought a car for its performance virtues, whats the point in buying the car if you dont maintain it in such a way that it can actually perform

My old BMW for example. Everything that has been replaced or upgraded has been done to enhance/restore the cars performance.

I hardly imagine that a bunch of ebay turbo components on a Supra are actually going to last or perform that well
