i have looked through other peoples problems with this and i have the latest drivers, i have run the card stock and over clocked and i am still getting micro stutters, am i missing a big setting or something?

I have played old games and new games and still getting the same problem and its almost every second when moving or turning etc.

My system:

MSI 990fxa GD80 mobo
8350 cpu @ standard
16gb corsair ram 1866
MSI HD 7970 twin frozr3
and i have 2 120gb ssd's in raid 0
system is watercooled but running stock speeds

The only other thing is that the motherboards netword adapter isnt working, i have had to resort to using an old network card and im waiting for a reply from the supplier, could this be a causing problems? motherboard faulty?

Thanks for any help

It's not the card... You don't get micro stutter with a single GPU... ( Well you can but its very very rare )

It's something else in the system...... CPU related most probably..

What games are you having problems with? What drivers are you using? Are you using vsync? What settings are you using on the game being played?

A bit more information is required for someone to help you.

As above, micro stutter is only when you are in Crossfire, so it's not microstutter. I think you've been reading up too much, or too little.

Ok, well i was trying out GTA 4 and half life 2 as i know the last time i played them a couple years back he pc i had at the time was struggling with them, i was using a 7850 a couple months ago which run these fine along with Eve online, same games with new mobo and new graphics card and now i have problems.

I normally wack the setting upto maximum on older games and they ran fine on the 7850 just not on this new mobo or graphics card.

I have been reading up a bit, but it does get confusing, i read to turn the vsync off, so im getting things all wrong, and i couldn't find vsync anywhere.

The only thing i can think is that the motherboard has problems, as it does not show the built in network adapter, i have updated bios and played around with drivers and nothing.

I am using the 13.10b graphics driver.

i dont really know what information helps, as i said im kinda out of date and i thank you for your help and patients ;)

GTA IV is just a buggy game. Your cpu will probably be the limiting factor there. Might be worth trying to overclock your cpu a bit. Its a horribly optimised game though so don't expect miracles.

As for half life 2 your gpu will run that game with ease.

Are you overclocking the gpu or is it at stock settings? Make sure you have +20% power limit set as well.

Have you set the power limit at +20%?

Vsync can be enabled from in game video options.

What kind of FPS are you actually getting in HL2 (to see your FPS, use FRAPS, Afterburner's On Screen Display, or turn on HL2's console and type cl_showfps 1)?

With a 7970 you should be way above 60FPS, even with all settings on maximum (didn't that engine have a 300FPS limit? Wouldn't be surprised if you're hitting that!).

yea its stuck on 299fps in hl2, i am getting around 8800 in 3dmark11 and 1723 in unigine valley

I dont really know if thats good or bad for my system.

is there any free games that are any good to try out with new graphics? demos etc?
