Not played it yet cos am offshore so cant get it, but.....

.....I trust there will be a technique to it. Even in PES 2013, where the crossing and heading really was a bit of a ****** up, there was a general technique that could be deployed, i.e. generally cross for a man running in and hold shoot button as long as you could beforehand. Those like me who were always trying to time their tap of the shoot button had a very bad time with crossing in PES 2013.
 
This game just gets better, apart from lag due to my rubbish connection, played a 1v1 with a mate and I've never played such a enthralling computer game of Football. Was an epic game :D so much drama and felt like a proper football match, we played 15mins each half, 30mins total so you had to really play your football, being a possession happy played I managed to keep just a bit more possession, we both created plenty of chances with lots of misses and mistakes, the goals were epic and added to the drama, I thought I was well on my way to a win in extra time, but my mate noticed my fullbacks were tired and leggy so made a tactical change and bought on fresh wingers and manged to get an equaliser, went to pens and I managed to win. :D

Honestly it is a fantastic piece of gameplay, throughout the whole match it felt like a unique match of its own, where every piece of play was different and every goal was different and came about in different way, a stark contrast to FIFA where every single game felt the same, every style of football was dictated the same way and every goal was the same. I cannot wait for 11v11 (apart from the lagfest :rolleyes:)
 
Theres one big frustration i have right now and thats because im anal and have to have everything perfect before I start my ML career...

That means waiting for a patch that at least has the 2nd division of my chosen league - i hate the fake names.
 
i too struggled with this at first, almost gave up with it. But the R1/RB button when receiving the ball to burst yourself in to space IS the way to play it. R2/RT is only really good for occasional drag backs, side steps, getting the ball under control and setting yourself for a shot - otherwise it's just the sticks and R1/RB to speed up.

I think the movement while on the ball is a little strange with the player kinda dragging the ball left and right in front of themselves sometimes. The shooting takes some getting used to as well - why does it take no time to pass but sometimes 3 touches to shoot? stupid imo. Haven't managed an attacking header yet either, and the players almost never just tap it in.

Make sure you are using your dedicated graphics card on PES and not the built in one.

some laptops have two gpu's. a dedicated one like your 650m and some build in intel onboard graphics card for battery performance where you are just browsing the net
 
also make sure you got proper drivers installed and not some generic ones.

That PESedit patch they have updated them with more stuff.

Also a tip with those who want an even more pure football experience change the settings to more manual so for example change shooting to basic, set the passing to 1 bar, it is amazing to play like that, if you fiddle with the settings and move them away from the default, it is just amazing and the level of control you get, the ball feels a complete entity of it own, whereas with the assisted settings it feels restricted and you can tell CPU is doing half the work but no way as bad as the Fifa arcadey rubbish.

Yes one but only after it bounced once.....

my players stoop out of the way. What is really odd is defending i can position well winning headers same on pitch. But in box the only thing i can do is win flick on. If i press shoot etc they mostly stoop.

Normally score a lot in master league with headers so this is affecting the way i play a lot. corners are wasted often same with crosses. Considering only using low crosses all the time .

Not had a chance to play PES 2014 yet but crossing and headers were a bit of a mess in PES 2013 as well. There was however a method to the madness, in that as a general rule your striker would either have to be running to meet the ball, or be in an massively advantageous position beforehand, with the shoot button depressed as long as possible beforehand. Any attempts to 'time' the header would result in a floating nothing headed ball, at least in the box. Totally nonsensical and unintuitive but it did at least work....probs something similar in PES 2014.

Thanks for the advise, i did not have a problem with 13 as i adjusted pretty quickly. Will try and move the players more and see how i get on.
 
I can score headers fine.

hit the x button as the ball is crossed in, guide your player with the left stick in to position, then hit x just before contact with the ball.

For defensive headers use R2 to position your defender and the Speed boost helps you climb up better.
