Its coming up to my birthday and want to do something a bit different.

Are there any good sheesha bars/restaurants/lounges were you can get some good food and chill out with a big group pipe?

There are many places abroad but none to my knowledge in Leeds city centre.

This place looks quite good but is slightly out the centre (and I cant find a website) - https://www.facebook.com/ArabianNightLoungeShisha I have just found that location on streetview and it looks like a crap hole

Anyone have some good recommendations?

Can't recommend any in Leeds but I believe that in general the smoking ban still applies so you'd be looking at an outdoor place, maybe covered, with patio heaters... Probably something you're better off doing in the summer.

there was a good place me and some workmates went to in the roundhey/studenty area a few years back. Forget what its called or exactly where it is but its kinda a restaurant downstairs, and a shisha thing upstairs where they have chilled out music, cushions and rugs an the floor for lounging on, was pretty good, great food too.

If you want seedy, dark and dinghy then just up from Duck and Drake there's a takeaway that advertises cheap pizzas...they do shisha on the 1st floor.

Nope, you can smoke shisha inside.

There's a place just outside mech eng/civil eng on the hyde park side of the uni. I went there once when I lived there and it was aliright actually, not wonderful though.

you can also smoke cigarettes inside and you'll get away with it if the establishment you're in doesn't care about a potential fine

some establishments do care about not breaking the law and getting fined so they'll make you smoke outdoors

Half the countries on this list smoke in bars and pubs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smoking_bans

Hell, been to offices where people still smoke in Netherlands and Poland

This is laughable too 'Turkey currently restricts smoking in government offices, workplaces, bars, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, schools, hospitals, and all forms of public transport, including trains, taxis and ferries'

When I went to Turkey on holiday it was the same as being there before then ban! (except Dalaman airport wasn't a giant smoke room this time)

edit - I've also went to a Russian hotel last year where there was a 'Cigar Lounge'

You can smoke shisha in shisha bars. Gordon Brown, at the time, commented specifically on this because the purpose of going to a shisha bar is to smoke shisha, like if you go to a cigar shop/lounge.

You can smoke cigarettes in some London pubs too... the landlord just has to not mind the risk of getting fined..

I'm not sure if you're mistaken or if Gordon did make some comments but there isn't a special exemption either way.

but I suppose my experience of the policing in Leeds was that it was somewhat relaxed.

Its hardly worth policing IMO.

Why fine owners or people smoking if they are causing no harm to others? Same goes for weed and ecstasy. Its not like people are shouting, fighting or puking everywhere

There used to be one in Hyde Park, near the royal park pub which also did food. I'm not sure if its still there though

There are dozens of them on Edgware Road just before you get to the park at Marble Arch, its like an enclave.

There are even a few places in North London near me that advertise being Sheesha places and they are all cafes. Sheesha places don't appeal to me in the slightest, but it looks to me like most of these places do food, and that is going to be the varying factor. Doubt you would make much money being a sheesha bar and offering nothing else.

Wasn't the point of the ban to aid those that were working in those environments?

 How about just not working there.

Isnt it like me saying I dont want to come home with greasy skin and smelling horrible after working in McDonalds for 8 hours?

Plus the fact they wouldnt have a job if there was a ban on Sheesha's in a Sheesha bar!

How about banning fries in McDonalds or fried chicken in KFC

Can't tell if you're intentionally being a moron here or are actually ignorant. Smoking is proven to cause cancer. Whether cigars, cigarettes or shishas. Working in McDonalds does not cause cancer. Thus why there isn't a ban on fries.
