Audi A3 or Mercedes A Class?

Go for the A3 Saloon 1.4 COD Sport or S-Line, It looks better than the hatch and more practical..

+1

I've driven one and they are quite nice, although the sport suspension is hard and the steering not particularly good in giving feel. What I like is they're exclusive as most will go for the 3 or 5-door, which cannot decided if it a hatch or a estate. I've managed to secure some discounts from main dealers of up to £1800.

She'll have to pay an advance payment for either of the cars. Think they both require a £1999 upfront payment (as well as the DLA contribution).

I think the A class looks nicer (still like how the A3 looks) but haven't read any good reviews about the A Class at all. She'll be taking them both for a test drive soon so she can make her own mind up as she'll be the one driving it!

I think its a decent enough scheme but yeh its not that much different that leasing a car really is it if its not Govt subsidized? Not done any sums but would she be able to get the same car on an equivalent (or cheaper) lease?

No. Motability is the UK's largest fleet operator - bigger than any other lease company - and its a registered charity, too. So huge buying power combined with no profit means that you won't beat a motability deal very often.

That's pretty good discount as there aren't that many A3 Saloon's around. Probably my next choice will be the S3 Saloon after my A1 in a few years..

It hasn't cost you something as you never had it.

No, this is wrong.

You had a choice - £220 a month higher rate mobility allowance, or motability car. The choice of the car means you forgo the mobility allowance, therefore there is a cost to you of £220. You'd be £220 a month better off if you didn't take the car. The car costs £220 a month and is paid for by the higher rate mobility allowance.

I really don't see how you can argue that, it's fact?

Plus if you took the money you pay tax insurance servicing MOTs tyres oh yea and £20k + for the car

Absolutely - Motability itself is an excellent deal and better than running your own car for most people. It doesn't change the fact it costs you £220 a month though, because it does.

That's quite a difference from a 1.4 Audi A3 Sport, did she test drive one?

Yeh she did, its a bigger car and is more roomier for my parents to get in and out of compared to the A3. She couldn't get an S-Line in the A3 Sportback either (and she only wanted a 5 door).

It only cost an extra £200 to get the S-Line Q3 instead, seems like a better deal anyway!

That makes me sad :(

We went for a 1 year old Quashqai as we couldn't afford the Q3...are you telling me this is made affordable on the motorbility scheme?

If I had known this I would have cut the mrs legs off!

Yes the S-Line Quattro Q3 is £1999 advanced payment on Motability. An SE was £1599 I think. Not sure what the non Quattro S-Line was, I think it was £1799.
