And does it annoy you when they show little interest?

I'm into many things. Photography, cars, PC gaming and home cinema. The latest being home cinema. Projector, AV receiver, floor standers etc. I love it, absolutely love it. Friends aren't so bothered about it though. One friend doesn't even acknowledge it whatsoever and has no interest in coming down and taking a look, even though i know he would love it. Drives me crazy inside, just wanna share the awesomeness with everyone.

How do you deal with it when nobody really shows much interest? I know for a fact others feel the same because you all post pics of your awesome stuff on here. You want to share what you think is awesome. What about real life friends though?

Real life friends??? What are these???

Seriously though **** 'em i do what i do for my own selfish gratifitication, screw my family and friends if they cant be bothered to show any interest even if its not genuine.

If you drone on about something which does not interest others you will be labelled a bore. It doesn't matter how great you think it is. I feel your pain though, as nobody I know is into history. Mrs Edrof has become adept at glazing over when I outline the details of the Battle of Marathon.

My wife loves history, do you fancy trying some wife swapping?

My wife does the same whenever i try to explain to her how stuffs made after watching "how stuffs made" on discovery lol

Living dangerous without pics :-P

I don't need friends and family to like the things I like. I actually dislike it when people show you X and get annoyed when I show little interest. I'd rather be honest than pretend

I like the things I like because i like them
I don't need the approval of peers

It's called the downside of being polite, you feign interest in others peoples crap & they think you are genuinely interested.

They don't "return the favour" because they don't think you are doing them a favour. :)

That last part made me chuckle. I know what you mean about being labelled a bore. I do try to break it up and i don't go on about the same thing day in day out. But i do find it a bit resistive holding back the enthusiasm about my hobbies sometimes. Best thing about it is, all my mates are into the same things as me, and i do cycle topics about as the conversation changes.

Of course it bugs me when people don't like the same things I do, but I'm pretty cool so they pretend to anyway.

OcUK thread turned into a dogging thread within 5 posts?

Got to be a new record? :D

Never, EVER show a polite interest in anything a friend has an interest with if the interest borders on obsession. I did this once and now I know more about fishing than I ever cared to know :o

Remember, normal men are only interested in football and discussing The Match last night. Talking about anything else is considered suspicious behaviour and will label you as a homosexual.

Women are a bit more varied. They have four hobbies. Reality TV, talent shows, soap operas and spending money (they don't have).

As for home cinema, it is a bit of a niche thing. Beyond the Sky box for recording the above things, normal folk will not give it a second look. Most won't even understand what any of it is. It's best just to share your odd interests with those that understand. We won't judge you, well not for a few posts anyway. :D
