Ive owned my Gigabyte Windforce X3 7950 for quite a while now, 2+ years and while its a decent performer, im feeling i need a bit more power under the hood.

Ill admit now, the card used to be absolutely silent, but as of now, fans start to ramp up even at the same fan curves. Not sure whats going on but i cant stand noise :S

Ill probably sell this off and get new cards but whats a good choice?
Keep the card and get another windforce
Sell and pick up 2 7950s
Sell and pick up 2 7970s
Sell and pick up a nvidia card.

Its been a long time since i was on the green team, and im definitely a sucker for the price / performance. Also, the 7950 ive got now isnt a very good clocker at all.
1.2V needed for a stable 1050mhz, which ISNT what a run anymore.

What are your thoughts?

2xHIS 7950 Ice-Q cards. They cost the same as a 770 (assuming you sell the free games) and with a overclock of 1100/1500 will offer double the performance. For just over £300 i don't believe this performance can be beat currently. The HIS cards are not voltage locked so you won't have any trouble overclocking them. Their cooler is also perfect for crossfire as it dumps all the heat out the rear of the case.

Interesting. Was thinking of going down that route. Not a fan of the HIS cooler look (aesthetics man as well as performance i must admit) but seeing that the reviews are showing positive views. I may go with them.

Im planning to keep the free games mind you, but with the cards being over £300 and having money from the 7950 if it sells, itll massively increase my performance for the money spent!

Any more suggestions are always welcome

Thats a bit obvious now. A little more info would have been great. Like whether or not to keep the 7950 i have now and hunt for another or sell it off and get 2 new 7950s in hope that they are quieter and OC better

The 7950 you have now will work completely fine with a completely different 7950, the only question is if you mind running 2 different looking cards.

Ah, i forgot to write down that i absolutely cannot have 2 different looking cards. Like i said before though, i am into aesthetics just as much as performance.

Couldnt have 2 different cards myself, looking at them would drive me mad. i say if your not 100% happy with the gigabyte then sell up and buy 2 new ones, but if your happy then just add another giga

My 7950's match :D

2013+-+1

I have the WF3 (sorry to hear you have a average clocking one, they are beasts at overclocking normally) and I've been in the exact predicament you find yourself in. I really wanted to go Xfire for a long time, only thing that was holding me back was my I5 3570K with its 4 threads, wont have enough grunt to power two 7950's to full potential. But, the price and performance of the 7950s was just to much to resist so I bought one anyway. I decided to go for the IceQ because of its exhaust fan, but as of yet I've not put it in my rig. I will tell you its real fugly, easily the worst looking card I think I've had, nowhere near as sexy as the WF3 but hey, I'm after performance lol.

I say go for the IceQ, its well renowned here, plus you get plenty of free games. If you don't want them, sell them and take it from the price of the 7950 for an even bigger bargain lol

I wouldn't bother with crossfire. Most games I found I had to disable a card due to micro stutter or graphic glitches. Crossfired two his 6950s under water for afew years. Would never crossfire again.
