Ive tried to find some information about the ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS board. Its surpose to be socket 2011/C602 board so my thinking was you could fit 2 4820k on it or something other than Xeon but I havent been able to find anything that will confirm it. Anyone who knows if it is possible or is the board stictly locked for Xeons spite being a socket 2011 board.

I know it's to do with the cpu's needing to support QPI
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_QuickPath_Interconnect

Other than that i'm clueless :P

Umm.. its been like that since x58 and the introduction of intel I7 920. so im not sure why you bring that up?

EDIT: I looking alittle deeper and i understand now. While your comment wasnt very specific you were right it has something to do with QPI. Normal socket 2011 processors(non xeons) only have 1 QPI where Xeons 2600 familie have 2 and 2 is needed if you want to run 2 CPUs on 1 board.. So thank you Breadturbo :)
