I don't want a refund as I think the single player game has been great and totally worth the money I paid. I would however like my stuff back for online and be compensated for time I could've been playing, levelling up and earning cash.

To be fair to them there is probably a fairly sound case for a refund under the Sale of Goods Act. Perhaps if enough people did it it might make games publishers think twice about saving on development costs by using paying customers as beta testers.

Yes

Play the game at 9am on a weekday morning and watch the difference

The majority of europe is at work, while the majority of the USA is in bed. Its night and day difference.

I can sympathize with rockstar to a certain extent having done capacity and availability management at work on a temp basis. The capacity planners would never have sat down and planned for the game to take $1 billion in retails sales in 3 days.

Most of the issues with "rockstar cloud servers are offline" appear to happen when the game servers reach capcity. People already in games can continue playing, but any new players just can't get on. Players try and save their progress and they can't save because all the servers are maxed out.

Characters get corrupted when you get all these saving problems with the game thinking it has saved and cloud not having it.

I think the only solution is just for rockstar to dig deep in its pockets and start buying more hosting. I'll bet they don't have the data centre space to host enough servesr for all 20 million GTA V owners at once which is whats taking time.
 
Cannot believe how many people are moaning about this GTA Online looks cool, and might be ropey/beta like atm but the single player is amazing.

Whats not cool is having your rank 14 character that you put many many hours of work into disappear.

Thankfully I've started again and already up to rank 11. But its progress that I shouldn't have lost and could have been rank 20+ by now.
 
I've got a hunch that when the stock market becomes available in GTA Online, it's going to be so abusable. With none of the BAWSAQ stocks ever falling much and ones like Pizzwasser constantly going up in value ever so slightly, it will be like a bank except you won't lose money when you die.

That's going to be pretty broken.

Surely it was fun, not 'work'?

Those characters do show back up when the servers are back (or mine did, and I can't be the only one) as long as you don't create another in the same slot. Use slot 2 for alts or play single player till servers are back.

I've played monthly fee MMO's that were waaaay worse than this on release day/week/month and they had no single player to fall back on. This is a free addition to the awesome single player game.
 
Yeah I wouldn't class it as work, as said some MMO's are way more grindy than this and I still wouldn't class those as work.

If you're making new characters every time the cloud goes down this is probably why you're losing your old one as it saves over that slot.

I've kept my character since day 1.

I now have 2 chracters, one in slot 1, and my current one in slot 2.

Character in slot 2 was created with the money from the first one. Some $68,000 so i know the character was there. It listed the characters name, but all the attibutes were blank, and it shows as rank 1 with no preview picture.

If i try and select that rank 1 character, it then prompted me to create another one and wouldn't let me play it.

Its different to my character not being available because the servers are busy.

To be honest, the current missions aren't fun. Most of them are pretty mundane. We're all waiting for the heists which is what everybody envisaged doing with mates when GTA Online was announced. Not 4 of your driving halfway across the map shooting a few bad guys and earning 1k for it. (Meth'd up). I had one which was for 1-2 players where I had to steal a corvette for simeon. Only thing was that the car was moving and wouldn't stop for anything. Shoot at the guy and the police got involved. He seemingly had bullet proof tyres as you couldn't shoot them out. We did two laps of the island before i got far enough in front of him to shoot him out as no ammount of ramming / blocking would make the guy stop. Whole mission took about half an hour for only 1k reward. **** that **** !

I've had much more fun playing some of the higher level missions with higher rank friends, which is what grates me so much. I could be doing the better missions but instead I have to repeat all the crap boring low level ones again.

Not had any issues at all with my character, luckily enough.

Think im on level 20 now.

Sick of bounty's though, i seem to get them off the server for sticking up for my self against all the kids.
 
not had any problems with my character, although I go offline when everyone else goes online and when servers start having problems. this might be saving me from the problems some are having.
around 6pm I can't connect so I've given up trying for now.
 
Managed to sink a couple of hours into it now and I'm rank 5, but when do I open up activities like golf, tennis etc? Also I keep trying to host missions as I'm on BT Infinity, but no one ever joins! If I join instead of host then I get into a game straight away and the room fills up quick when I'm not host :confused:
 
Level 10, how do I add people on this? im in the MP3 crew from Max Payne it seems to show up on GTA but none of my mp friends do, would this just be because they havn't got it?
