city link

Yeah why didn't he just answer the door and get his parcels while the BT engineer was doing his job...this is so weird.

Because I dont want to leave people that I dont know in my house you can't trust people these days, common sense really.

The BT engineer gave me his phone to call up to complain as my line was out, it was the way the delivery driver said what he said that the BT engineer got involved.
They are paid to pick up goods, not for you to carry it out to the van.

While the driver is a jobsworth for not carrying the boxes down after walking all the way upstairs I don't see why you couldn't just bring them down to him in the first place... I'm sure the BT engineer doesn't need help packing up his tools nor is likely to rob your DVDs etc.. in the minute it takes you to carry two packages down some steps.

I just moved in and boxes were all open and near the BT master socket easy pickings for anyone to dip there hand in a box and take something.

I told him to wait 5 mins, he was not having it, they get paid to pick up the goods, he failed to pick it up and was rude.

City Link driver hasn't got five minutes to wait for you to go about your daily business.

Most couriers won't carry large or heavy boxes up and down to flats.
I've never had anyone refuse to deliver to where I have lived since the start of the year on the 2nd floor of a maisonette

although a lot of websites do claim their delivery drivers will only delivery to a buildings entrance so far I have not experienced this as most of them are either 2 man teams when it's a heavy object or one guy with one of those trolley things

The only people that won't come past the main entrance are takeaway delivery drivers at night who claim they are not allowed for safety reasons which seems ridiculous considering inside is covered in CCTV cameras and outside is not.

Any time I have a collection booked I leave the package next to the door the night before. Surely it isn't that hard to be prepared for such a simple thing

Can imagine how annoyed they must get at the amount of unprepared people faffing around while they wait.

Also, personally I wouldn't expect a multi drop driver to wait 5 minutes for anything. :p

it was next to my door, i live in a 3 flat block, they knew the size if they could not do it then dont take my money.

This country is turning into a cesspit, the hifi dealer tried to con me by sending the wrong color speakers and we agree on 2 pairs of stands but only sends one, agrees to give me free QED 20m cable which isnt in the box and now he says he never agreed to it.
Hifi dealer refuses to pick up the order after i mention sales of goods act, also tell him, he has to pay for the return of the goods. He then turns round and says he'll contact the other shop that i'm going to buy it off and tell them not to sell it to me. Juts seems everyone is at it.

The driver doesn't get 5mins to pick up a parcel. You would have messed up his whole round.

Well then let him take it with out help, that is what he gets paid for, they collect and deliver to your door, not the communal door.

I guarantee he had a valid reason for not taking it. Why wouldn't he? He is already there. And even WITH a valid reason, he will still have to go through the companies disciplinary procedures and explain himself. Simply isn't worth not taking it.

****** link?

Once got a phonecall off a company I had ordered a few things off saying ****** link's driver had tried to deliver 3 times but no one was in.

I live on a military base, manned 24/7, with 5000 people where all the mail goes to a central collection point for every delivery regardless of courier.

Plus I was in.

Citylink has more than once failed to deliver a game to me on release day, regardless of paying extra for guaranteed delivery. I have been in the whole day and my tiny flat echoes when the buzzer goes off. No "You weren't in" note left either. Damn amazon for using this useless **** company.

Another time they had left two "You weren't here"-notices on the same day after not turning up on the first.

I'd love to just pick up the parcels from the depot.. but the depot is 30km away, and once I actually changed my delivery to pickup, they delivered it the next day anyway. Lucky I was in.
