Mega textures push Call of Duty: Ghosts on PC to 50GB

I've heard the next gen dog from ghosts that wears body armour is a full 4k texture dog and is heavily tessellated to boot. The dog alone is 1gb in size. This is before you purchase any 'dog upgrades', such as the self destructing dog collar for suicide runs when you earn a kill streak. The dog tag (no pun intended) also contains a tracking device so you can monitor the dogs position on your mini map. You can also strap a camera to the dog to enable you to use him as a scout.

When configuring kill streaks you can also purchase the dog food upgrade which allows you to feed the dog pedigree chum. This gives him improved vitality on the battlefield.

50gb?? Maybe I should have bought a bigger SSD. Oh...wait...I have no interest in CoD. Phew.

Hahaha

It is seriously annoying tho! 40GB of my SSD is already taken up by BF3.. As if that isn't enough!!

I imagine I'll download (legally... obviously) it just to have a look at the graphics, be averagely impressed, then be highly annoyed that my 2yo £2k machine is struggling and uninstall. :p

Not sure if serious? lol.

yep 780 gtx recommended :D

hehe cod ghosts beats bf4 on specs :p

50gb not many ***** pirates will be grabbing that .

On the legal side, I bet loads have paid full price to download/preload from Steam, so 50gb is small to a lot of people these days.

50Gb... so does that mean they are shipping it on like 4-5 DL DVD's?... It's starting to get like the FDD era where you had 15 disk installs :D

I wonder when they are going to start shipping PC games on BR as well.

Never will happen, Max Payne 3 was this about this size. I brought the retail disc and it came on 4 dual layered DVD's and took over an hour to install:(

Quicker for me to download games than install from disc, digital download is the way forward not another optical media.

Am I the only person that just plays COD single player campaigns?

I thought I was the only one!! Thoroughly enjoy the story and plot of all the CODs (since COD4, first one I bought) and never play online because I'll run into people like my kids who fire off trash talk quicker than they fire off bullets ("Oh my god, noob!", "What a noob to be using the knife.", "Yeah, killed you with a knife which shows how rubbish you are.", "Oh wow, you camper.", "Shut up, just because you're mad because I'm spawn killing you all.", "That was such a hard scope, you must be such a noob not to be doing quick scopes") I can't decide what annoys me the most, the juvenile insults or the blatant double standards.

yeah and the ironic thing is some the textures in MP3 are awful.

All of that just for the absolutely inevitable fact the bad guy will shoot it in the face after you've been lead to fall in love with it to fuel your anger for the final mission of 10k baddies with unlimited ammo that conveniently runs out before shooting the boss but helpfully you use to work in the circus so your knife throwing skills are impeccable enough to separate his eyes... God dammit I hate Cod now.

Actually i believe you're correct. In the single player campaign the lead character and the next gen dog form a very close relationship. Perhaps too close.

The camera is carefully positioned so you can see between the dogs ears.
