Gratitude these days!

What really had me perplexed was that the daughter whom I hoped would be the voice of reason had the same attitude as well. Guess kids really do learn most things from parents :) I don't feel so bad now seeing the responses :D

I would have updated her facebook with a picture of the Asda you was at and a comment along the lines of you really shouldn't leave your phone on the floor here is where it is, as your family have just treated me like **** find it yourselves then leave the phone there.

In hindsight I'd have thought about envirofoning it and donating the proceeds to the British kidney foundation. Then I'd have considered them reporting it stolen and me converting a stolen item into cash..

But initially I'd have been so dismayed at their response I'd probably have done exactly the same.

I've returned phones to people a number of times when they were lost and never encountered anything like that. They sound like complete idiots though, so no great loss.

I would have tried to skim it off the surface of the ocean down at the shore.

My misses is a div and has now on three occasions had her phone returned by people making an effort to return to owner. We never once felt the need to be anything other than very grateful.

Some people are just *********.

With that attitude, I'd have explained to them in no uncertain terms that they ought to wind their necks in, and they've just done themselves a major disservice. I then would have informed them that the phone was found in the ASDA car park, and considering their response to my attempted good deed, I was going to leave it right there again and they may hope that it's still around/in one piece when they drag their scummy arses down to find it.

After ending the call, I'd have posted the same on her Facebook page (if the app was installed), then placed the phone behind the front wheel of the nearest car and went about my business.

Some people really are just complete cretins.

I don't quite get the breaking it or throwing it responses.... they got a bit angry on the phone there is no need to break a phone costing a few hundred over that... there is obviously also no need to do them any favours like hanging onto it or dropping it round... telling them you're leaving it where you found it - in ASDA carpark should be sufficient... they've then got to faff about driving out there and looking for it but you've not been a complete arse to them.

treasure hunt style? or lob it on the roof and tell them where it is lol

So I was at an ASDAs today, found a phone at the side of my car on the ground, assumed someone dropped it as they entered the car that was next to mine when I got there.
It was a Samsung Galaxy without pin lock so I browsed it and found 'home' in the contact list. I rang it, someone answered, I assume the owners dad or something as he said 'hi Katey, mum was wondering when you'd call'

Explained who I was and how I got the phone - kicker is he would not believe me and kept calling me a thief, said he'd boil me alive if I hurt his daughter etc.. Apparently 'Katey' came in as well and he asked her what happened, she started ranting about how I must have pickpocketed her phone and she'd never leave it anywhere etc.. Saying I was setting them up for a house robbery and calling me 'scum' etc..
Long story short I didn't exactly tell them I was at an ASDAs quite yet, just hung up and put the phone down exactly where I found it and drove off :o

I feel kind of bad now, what would you have done?

I would have driven over it.

I would've smashed it after getting that kind of treatment... then mailed the pieces to her, if her address was on the phone. If i still wasent happy after that send some used kitty litter as well.

What exactly are they going to learn... they probably still think hes the 'thief' after hanging up on them.

Having to drive out there after being told where the phone is/where it was found would more likely make the penny drop so to speak...

Lol, I envy your ability to stay cool, I had a small rise in blood temperature just reading his post. I'd have been calling the dad all the cheeky ******* of the day and telling him to listen carefully to see if he could hear his daughters phone bouncing off the ground.
