*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

I still think it was a mistake not to have Mario Kart 8 out before Christmas, Zelda hasn't done much if anything for Wii U sales, Mario 3D World should hopefully have some impact, but Mario Kart will have the biggest chance of selling hardware.

Also seems to be the beginning of Ubisoft dropping support for the Wii U.

Bit early to be predicting Zelda influence till the end of October I'd have thought?

Wii Party U help widen the appeal in the Xmas run, plus we're already seen PS4 and XB1 pre-order people here take it down a notch and opt for the Wii U. Ironic that XB1 and PS4 are actually going to provide a platform for Nintendo shifting boxes.

I love how the backing music for the setup menu pumps through my surround sound while the main tune comes from the WiiU tablet.

Nintendo opens online shop in the UK: offers free delivery, limited edition exclusives and extended warranties

Nintendo's cutting out the middleman and going straight to consumers. Today, the company's UK outfit launched a full-fledged online shop that aims to sell a range of games and consoles from its existing product lines. Unlike Nintendo's US online retail effort, which is really a "store" in name only, this UK site doesn't redirect consumers to third-party retailers and instead ships to consumers directly from the company's stock.

Apart from offering games and consoles across the Wii U, Wii, 3DS and DS product lines, the UK online shop will also offer exclusives like limited edition 3DS consoles and pack-in figurines like this Wind Waker bundle, in addition to free delivery (orders over £200 qualify for next day) and 12-month extended warranties for consoles. There's no word on whether or not other regions like the US will see a similar service or why Nintendo chose to launch this first in the UK. We've reached out to Nintendo for comment and will update you when we hear back. No matter, though, as this is definitely a welcome move for the sometimes stubborn gaming legend.

Well Wind Waker has been tossed to the side...still playing Nintendo games though, ok a game, Pokemon X :D Amazing btw so if anyone has a 3DS I suggest picking it up!

Just a reminder to all of you new Wii U owners - get Pikmin 3 - brilliant game, looks pretty - 1080P @ 35 fps, addictive, cute, satisfying, slick.

Used copies changing hands for around £26.

Well ive been playing super Mario bros u for a couple hours now. Ive got to grips with the gamepad very quickly for this game. Also its been a very long time since a game has given me sweaty hands, I tell you its those tricky ice levels with tiny platforms to jump on:p
my niece is coming around in a min, so ill look forward to trying some co-op.

SMBU is a brilliant game - some levels delight you, some make you want to pull your own eyeballs out and eat them with sheer frustration.

I'm about 70% of the way through it. Co-op is great, especially when someone is on the gamepad who knows what they're doing with block placement, popping bubbles and putting enemies off (not sure if you've noticed this yet but you can manipulate enemies etc with the gamepad to help out the other players).

You cant play co-op with the gamepad pro controller, you need a wii remote, that's very strange.

The gamepad itself is not for an on-screen player.

So beyond the gamepad - you need two further controllers - whether they are wiimotes or pro controllers is irrelevant - they all work - it's just that you can't use the gamepad (the main gamepad) to play on.

I've got a wiimote and a pro controller - my daughters play with one each and then I help them by using the gamepad (placing blocks etc etc).
