*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Sorry yes 1080p output 720p rendered for Pikmin.

Most Wii U games are going to be 720p 40-60fps and screen tear free. I'm happy enough with that.

Time will bring good things - the Wii U hardware isn't being stretched/exploited -early days still. Heck some games are being coded with only one CPU core.

I've gone back to Pikmin. Played Dishonored on my PS3 for a bit, was traumatised, needed flowers and insects. Haha.

A few more core ninty titles and then I'd have to make the call against a Wii u with loads of ninty next gen vs a ps4 with 2 games.....

Come early 2014 hopefully by May there will be another 3 core Ninty Next Gen franchises...

It's fun times to be a Wii U owner for sure I must say! I've maintained from early in the thread but it's genuinely the console I've had the most fun with since...oh god knows when!

I just don't see why anybody would buy a console at launch, they all have post launch droughts, the Wii U's was horrible if I had bought at launch like I had planned I would have been stuck with NSMB U and then nothing else since I'm not into Lego games and I'm sure Lego City wouldn't have gotten the praise it did if there were other worthwhile games on the system.

Buying a Wii U now though and theirs a fair few good games.

It really makes no sense for people to jump on the PS4 or XBone right now when they can wait 6 months or so and have many more games to play and likely pay less for the privilege.

Couldn't agree more - I was tempted by a Wii U a year ago but took my finger off the order button - glad I did as it would have spent 6 months switched off.

Most consoles take a while to get up a head of steam.

Playing Battlefield 4 on launch day with my friends is worth getting a day 1 console for.

I've got Zombiu from boomerang so I'm trying to complete that before I play Zelda WW or Pikmin 3 as I know once I start either of those Zombiu won't get a look in!

Not sure whether to buy or rent Mario. Is the expansion pack a stand alone physical game?

Stand alone or DLC for Mario.

Looks like it's also a standalone game, no?

I can't seem to link my club Nintendo account even though I have triple checked my password and email address are correct. Googling around seems to show this is an issue that some people have never been able to resolve :(

Wise move - I've presently got so many games on the go I'm in a mess.

Tempted to go back to Pikmin tonight because I'm probably only 4 or 5 hours off completing it. Then back maybe do the same SMBU before getting really stuck into Zelda. W101 has gone onto the back burner - completely unfair because it's a wicked game but Zelda & Pikmin and SMBU are a cut above.

Fortunately I tried ZombiU and thought it was pants so I don't have that added complication. :D

Quick question - Ive not had a Nintendo console before other than a DS which I sold after getting my first iPhone and for some reason I think Im already considering getting another console to complement my PS4 purchase and its obviously between Vita (blame PS+) and Wii U.

What Id like to know is how possible it would be to pick up the Mario/Zelda backcatalogues as thats all I really want to play? I presume they all feature on the Nintendo eshop but it seems they are Wii titles - does Wii U play those digital titles? Or should I prehaps just aim to get a cheap Wii instead?

ps3ud0

The Wii U plays all Wii titles - on the Wii U main menu there's a Wii icon - press that and the system is a Wii.

Eshop gives you virtual console for old school titles - tons of them - very simplde download and play.

I disagree and have bought every console since the snes on launch day - and each time has been one of the highlights of that respective machine. Sure the games aren't always stellar - sometimes they are - but the excitement of waiting for launch day and sharing the experience with other proud new owners is always great.
