Just a quick question i was thinking about getting the Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X OC which is about £270 however i was wondering if i waited for the r9 290x how much would it cost? as i cant seem to find any price tags for it
Thanks

Hasn't been released but price wise it won't be anywhere near it. It'll be AMDs flagship card so expect a hefty price tag based on that. Rumours vary from anywhere between £450 and 600.

The 290 (no x) might be the one to look out for, but its still going to be at a premium against the 7970/280x. Think we are waiting till the 15th Oct for prices so not far off.

That's my hopes for the price range for the 290 also. If it's over £400 I'll just go with a 280x. Would be too much of a price jump IMO for a not top of the range card

I am waiting for the R9-290. Hopefully it will slip in between the £330 and £400 mark. If not, gonna go for two 7950s.

If it would be in the 300's it would be in the higher 300's. Too small of a price gap between the 280x's and the 290's no one would buy the lower range for the hopefully large increase in performance. £240 to a £500 price is too much of a gap. A bit below £400 for the 290 would sit very nicely with £500 for the 290x.

My predictions based on leaked specs (hopefully true)

280x - £240
290 - £380
290x - £480 (keeps them below the 780)

Hopefully your right could stretch to £380 for the 290.
Performance will hopefully be as good as the 780 if the toxic is not far behind it.

Roll on the 15th!

Hopefully yes. A product sitting just below £400 I think would sell very well as it would be a middle ground for the higher 290x and the lower 280x. It's an untapped price range that should be exploited by the red or green camp IMO.

Lol

At first i kept an eye on these threads to check the R9-290 price because i had planned to be able to afford it. Now the word on the street is saying that it will likely be out of my price range, I am visiting these threads to try and justify paying more than i originally wanted to.

Without releasing reviews, official specs and prices, AMD have manage to sell the card to me before it has hit the market.
