Can you Crossfire 7950 with R270x?

Though the specs are similar to a 7870, the 270X is most certainly not a 7870. ;) The specs are similar because that combination makes the most sense for $199 on the GCN architecture.

That said, the 270X is not compatible with the 7870. It *might* work with the 280X, but I make no promises.

From the reviews I've read, the 270 looks to be slightly quicker than a 7870.

Clocks and drivers.
You also don't know what results they're using for the 7870, it could be launch day ones.

Why isn't a 7870? It has the 7870 spec, clocks excluded.

Get a 7950 yellow sig man, while you still can. ;)

Yeah, you're probably right, Matt. :)

Btw, those sapphire toxic cards look nice. I'm not a lover of that brand, but maybe I could be swayed on this occasion. :D

I think you should add a pipe and brightly coloured wig to your sig. :D

Those toxic cards do look good. :)

You're right that would be a worthy addition to my sig. :D

You developed a brand new GPU to make up the R9 290 series.

Which with 2816 SP's, 64 ROP's, 512Bit bus and 8 ACE Units instead of 2 looks like its going to be awesome, add to that you also managed to shrink the amount of space it uses. with those spesification it looks like it should have been about ~600mm^2, its actually less than 440mm^2.

To me it would have been better and more cost effective to use those designs all the way down the line, instead of regurgitating the HD 7K.

I haven't done the maths, but on the face of it you could have made an R9 270X with 1536 SP's and 4 ACE Units, a 7870XT (Tahiti LE) only with 4 ACE Units instead of 2, that would have been better than a 7870XT and on the same size DIE as (Pitcairn XT, 7870) and blown the GTX 760 out of the water.

I think you have the side of the 290X wrong Humbug, I thought it was 530mm^2 or something?

'About' 17.5% larger than Tahiti XT, 428mm^2, there is an article some where with the diagrams stating its 437mm^2. those spesifications are apparently confirmed, i will try to find them.

Its about 25 to 30% smaller than GK110.
