Hi guys, I'm just after a bit of advice really. I have been holding out for a long time to get a graphics card and with these new deals on I'm going to bite the bullet.

I am after a 7970 but I'm not sure which one is the best. I'm currently gaming on a 1080p monitor with a 7770.

So my question is which card would you recommend?

Thank's Chris.

IMO if someone buys that 7950 over a Matrix they're nuts.

Even without those two free games the Matrix is a no brainer, it's a ~£350 card being sold for peanuts because of an obsolete model name.

The only possible issues you need to look into are power (2x8pins) and it being a 3 slot card.

+1 for the matrix if you can fit it in!

I wouldn't worry about what Rangerjr1 said, the only surprises i can think of is that its a 3 slot card, can overheat if the case is quite small and there is low air flow and there is only one full cover block that fits it, the R9-280x Matrix block by EKWB.

@OP. The people who's suggesting the Matrix arent telling half the story. And everytime i tell them that there's more to it i get put down by some mod, like right now. Its like you cant say a product isnt good or you'll get punished.

If you want more info add me on steam.

Steam: Rangerjr1.

More to what?

You pay £20 more and get an extra 256 stream processors, 200-250mhz clock speed, overall higher quality hardware. It's a no brainer.

No, you get pulled down for consistently displaying a horrific attitude.

Your experience with one Matrix card is not the be all and end all. It doesn't represent every matrix card out there.
Just accept that you got a dodgy one and leave it there.

It's a good card. No, it can't guarantee uber high clocks, but what card can?

1. May be.
2. My experience does not differ from anyone elses experience. Its objective, not subjective. The card does not deliver what it promises.
3. Well if it did then it would be a good card. You would think it guarantees good clocks since it comes with all the bells and whistles to take advantage of, but whats the point if you got a crap chip that wont do more than 1250 for benching?

But still thats no the point. If OP wants to water cool, use Sapphire Trixx for overclocking, or use a soundcard? You dont know.

Why are you posting if you aren't going to elaborate on anything?

I don't know what's gone on previously but so far in this thread you've not come across as either helpful or informative.

I want to know exactly what OP wants out of his purchase. I cant help him before that.

3. That the GPU lottery, fact is cards like the Matrix and Lightning with a good GPU can achieve 1400MHz on air, it's rare but has happened. People on these forums have benches at 1350+ with stock cooler. Whereas the best reference cards top out at 1250-1300 on air and are very rare.

Fact is like for like GPU a matrix or lightning will take them further even on air, if your extreme clocking they are a must! Some people have proven it and found them worth their £100+ premiums.

Now there is no premium, infact they are under priced at £220 so it's a pretty mute argument to be honest, at these prices Matrix all the way.

The best performance out the box for his money, which at £220 the Matrix will deliver!

Reference cards with ref coolers wont come anywhere close to matrix if the chip is identical, and that is ONLY because of the cooler as tahiti is temp sensitive. If you meant ref cards with any aftermarket cooler then its just a blank uneducated claim.
