When I've had new glasses its instantly corrected my vision the only thing that took a little getting used to was a slight change in positional perception (i.e. feeling like your slightly further above or closer to the ground depending on the change).
Yup, instant fix for me with short sightedness and astigmatism, if they are designed for reading only then they might suck for everything else, never had a pair like that.
But the getting used to everything feeling slightly different is odd, it's so apparent when I switch between contacts and glasses, I think once I got past -5 the difference between contacts/glasses started to get, dizzying. Literally everything looks bigger and closer when I have my contacts in, I don't wear them often, when I do everything looks weird, like everyone has put on a stone
When I put them in, no problem, when I take them out, I feel dizzy for 5-10 minutes.
It's easily possible for an optician to write the prescription down the wrong way around of a guy making the glasses to get them mixed up. If you were long sighted I would imagine reading to be sharper but generally looking around outside to potentially seem more blurry in the distance.
If you feel they make your eyesight worse, don't wear them, take them back and ask them to check the glasses and make sure they match the prescription and if they do, ask for a retest at Tesco's maybe(in terms of they should do it for free if they screwed it up, if you want to pay I'd double check elsewhere as it may be incompetence as opposed to a genuine mistake).
