I don't know about the oldest fossils.

just because the source is the DM for one tiny fraction does not mean they did not verify it elsewhere
 
I wouldn't like to bet on surviving 2 minutes unprotected in space. Maybe possible if someone rescues you (you'll have 15 seconds or less before oxygen deprivation renders you unconscious, so you're not going to be rescuing yourself).

Also...how can anyone know that 14% of the world's species have been identified? That would only be possible if every species had been discovered and 86% of them are unidentified, which doesn't make any sense.

The Hoba meteorite was interesting. I've been looking at photos of it. There really isn't a crater. I would have expected a 60 tonne meteorite to have a fairly catastrophic impact. Obviously, it was placed by aliens using tractor beams :)
