I've had enough, this car has to go!

My latest hire car. Have to say, it's pretty awesome. As per usual with their hire cars, it has all the toys. And it's nice to have a rattle free XF

Was due to pick up my car today after they sent me a nice long list of stuff they've replaced/fixed, only to find out that they've just discovered another electrical fault (one I wasn't aware of), so now have to wait until next week :(

Well I guess that's better than them not noticing and then you finding out later and having to take it back yet again to be fixed.

Still sucks though.

Why the unhappy face? I'd rather be driving that 63 plate one around than an old one that rattles? :p

They found more problems and didn't want to give you the car back and you have a car to use so its not really an issue is it? And to be fair they got you in a brand new loan car unlike BMW who would want weeks and weeks of notice to have a loan car...

Oh I'm not complaining at the fact they're keeping it, just a little gutted that something else has come up, but like you guys said, I'd rather they find it now and fix it than have to go back

But Fox, you say that, but I'm getting quite attached to this hire car already. It's superb, I was hoping to give it back today so it wasn't even harder giving it back next week :p

It must be part of a cunning ploy by JLR to get customers to upgrade.

My old man had a RRS go back for a new gearbox under warranty and was given a brand new Autobiography edition as a loan car. Funnily enough the suicidal gearbox put him off a RR more than the loan car made him want a new one :p

At least they didn't find something life threatening like they did on mine...

The facelift car is a pretty major upgrade, even in 2.2 form like that one. The build is much better and the 8 speed box is brilliant

That funny as the ZF box they use is the same as just about every other manufacturer...

Right up until it broke and started dangerously lurching the car forward of it's own accord, yeah it was great. Hence LR replacing the entire thing under warranty :p

The facelift is lovely, it's a shame they've ruined that one with that horrible, horrible engine, like smearing a dog turd over a beautiful painting.

I noticed yesterday that they've done another mini facelift on the XF at some point this year. The tail lights are now all LED whereas before the indicators were normal bulbs. When did that happen?

Yeah, that's the one downside to the 2.2. It's not as refined as the 3litre. Even mine which is pre-facelift, seems so much more refined in comparison.

But the facelift 3.0D which I've also driven is just brilliant.

A quick update, after speaking to them, it seems that the offer they are making for my car is going to stay on the lower side, which I'm sure if I really pursued it and got the finance company back on board some how, I could negotiate the deal to be a bit more favourable, but I'm thinking that with all this work they've done, providing it is indeed fixed and nothing else comes up, I stick with the car. I'd be happy to keep it if the outstanding issues are fixed as it will be like the car I loved when I first got it, but maybe I should push for some sort of discount or deal on the warranty next year when it's up for renewal, do you think that would be a fair request for me to put to them?

It not that bad an engine, my Dads has it and ok its not as refined as the V6 in my car but its not anywhere near as bad as most 4 pots and with 200 BHP and the 8 speed book the car has a reasonable turn of pace and good economy.

No they've been LED since the facelift, all the lights in the cluster are LED.
