Long time since I posted on here, I am always lurking though :)

I missed the 7970 Matrix Platinum over the weekend due to being on nightshift and was just wondering if the price is going to drop back to £221.99 at anytime.
I saw it on the way home this morning on my phone but by the time I had got in the house it had gone back up to its current price which has gutted me as I was all set to grab it to replace my ageing 580GTX.

Anyway heres hoping it comes back down so I can grab one :)

Cheers

Bry.

From Gibbo in another post:

Yes we did!

We set about 160 to sell, we actually sold 283, oooops. :D

TOP's are now nearly gone, shall be no more offers on those.

On Matrix less than 200 left now, so any future offers won't be as good, so those who got one, well done. :)

Future offers might be close though especially when the r9 290's come out.

I did order a matrix last night which has now been shipped. I was going to wait till this morning as well.

since i had 3870cf , i don't like having multiple cards in the system , to hot uses to much power and other cf issues , i know most of them are fixed but still.

also matrix should look well with all black/red build

I take it you couldn't xfire your 7950? :)

I also thought about that, and glad I didn't
My 7950 is basic and already very noisy in games

This new 7970, barely even raises a decibel when under load
Which is exactly what I was going for :D

Very happy with the purchase, now to flog the 7950 and recoup some money before the credit card bill comes!!

erm, i dont know if this helps you or not. Im just returning my matrix plat and although it was a great deal at £230, at the current price i would defo not advise anyone to get it.

it simply wont overclock. and i would rather buy a cheaper card if the plat offers nothing extra.

im thinking of either buying the new Saphire R9 280X (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-324-SP ) or just be done with AMD and get a 770...

Definitely sounds like a dodgy one. Probably just got very unlucky on the chip lottery.

280X sounds like a good shout. 770 too if you don't mind paying the extra :)

the 1100 deafult clock. even the slightest oc would result in artifications in some games and crashes in others

even at stock it wouldnt render things properly... it might have been a faulty card though

I hope I get better results later today when it comes. I will return it if it doesn't overclock at all.

I know that there isn't a standard that it should overclock to but to have no headroom at all on a card such as this is not good. Even a small overclock to at least 1170 would make me a happy chappy.:D

was looking around and seen that some matrixes and dcu coolers have problems with screws not tight enough and some artifacts , hopefully mine will be okai fingers crossed.

Mine havent crashed yet but its running very unstable, temp goes 99c, gpu usage 100%, fan duty 100% straight away on any game on lowest setting!

And unplayable since it jerks every second.

try tighten the screws as when i was looking around people say they were loose and cooler doesn't have good contact with gpu , also found out that thermal paste applied badly and that VRM gets hot and video memory can be unstable.

that is very weird for premium gpu that should have been hand picked for clocking.

mine should arrive end of the week or in few days, and if its that bad will DSR it , hopefully it will be okay , if not it is a shame as it such good looking card.

I think your right psychas as my one would just overheat straight away. But I dont think i want to scratch it up which might mess up the DSR. Real shame, first AMD card in 6 years and first purchase with ocuk.
