*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Well, that's the PS3 dead for a third time. :(

I can't be bothered trying to resurrect it again so I sold my controllers, headset and whatnot at CEX.

Roll on Nov 29th.

I asked if they would match the amazon price, and this was their reply.

We do not run a price matching service. I have passed this over to our team for consideration but i can not confirm or guarantee that we will be changing the price.

James

If you don't mind me asking how and when did it die on you?

To put it into context this is a 60gb launch day model.

The first time I was playing Uncharted 2 and it switched off. Turned back on and got the YLoD. I dismantled it then blasted it with a heatgun.

A month later after completing Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, The Last of Us and half of GTA V it turned off again with the YLoD. This time I just blasted a hairdryer into the back vent for 10 minutes.

Started playing downloaded games only so i didn't end up with a disc stuck in the drive. Turned off last night (after three days) when playing Assassins Creed 3. Got the YLoD at the time but it randomly switched on and loaded the XMB this morning.

I could probably heatgun it again but it's more hassle than it's worth tbh. I'm going to remove the Blu Ray Drive and control board along with the 500gb HDD and sell them on instead I think. You seem to get as much for the Blu Ray on ebay as you do for a full faulty PS3.

heat - the problem is always heat.

I had a similar problem - lesson learned was that once they need a 'hairdryer' job - thats it - it'll conk out again shortly after. Not worth the time and effort trying to fix tbh

Seems to be the games that push the console to the limit that's breaking them.

There's quite a sized thread on the PS support forum about GTA V causing issues with their consoles.

http://community.us.playstation.com...rt/SUPPORT-GTA-V-Various-Issues/td-p/41642435
I haven't noticed any issues with GTAV so far but my PS3 did struggle with a few cutscenes in uncharted 3, a few times it pretty much went to less than 1FPS and was literally like a slide show with the fans blasting as well. It seemed to get passed it after a few minutes though. It happened 3 or 4 times.

Well my Super Slim 500gb either died from GTA V overheating or the new firmware update. I've got a fan constantly blowing on my older slim 320gb now whilst I'm on GTA to avoid heat issues. The case still gets quite warm.

Hopefully zavvi refund me for the bundle I sent back, but they said something about they can only offer a replacement for open and used products that are returned as being faulty. I much prefer the old slim I've bought, no more disc noise and it feels much better built.

I asked if they would match the amazon price, and this was their reply.
Well lets be honest, they have us by the short and curlies as they well know its gonna be near impossible to move your preorder elsewhere and get the bundle you want at the price you want for launch. I dont think many would cancel over £20 and they know that...

I was happy with the Amazon pricing (surprisingly I must add - think it was just relief) but soon as I saw ASDAs price I did the same as you - didnt expect them to capitulate, but then thats why I pre-ordered from Amazon as Ive experienced theur customer service a few times down the years - cant think of anyone other than supermarkets I might have gone with if it wasnt them.

Am I the only one that read the thread about the Shopto F U comment and thought the customer was in the wrong?

People are acting a bit crazy over their pre orders and need to get a grip. I've been following some of the threads over at Amazon as well and folk are going mental over the bundles even though they are just guessing with regard to how they are being processed and emails have clearly stated that your order will be updated by the 4th November if there is stock available. Admittedly it doesn't help that Amazon seem to have employed a team of (un)trained monkeys to answer customer queries via live chat and they are just spouting random nonsense at times.

I'd also cancel the orders of anyone who questions the amount of controllers included in a bundle. If they can't work it out on their own then they are too thick to have a PS4. :p

They are both in the wrong, but a shop rep acting like that was just way out of order, especially as it wasnt a comment made directly to them or the shop just unfortunate they didnt notice that in their twitter stream...

I thought the customer was being a bit of a ****, but he wasn't abusive or threatening towards the customer adviser (person people thing from Shopto).

It was really, really, really poor from ShopTo, I imagine the person who was in charge of that decision & whatnot will be having something said to them. Really poor.

A sony rep came into work today for some ps4 training , had a quick do on knack and octodad , (octodad is a crazy game )

ps4 was a test model ,but more or less close to final build . For its size the ps4 is quite heavy but that's a good thing , me thinks

also there will be a surprise as the rep told us that sony have changed the dashboard that was shown at e3 .
