Has anyone prepared for possible powercuts this winter?

Loads of batteries candles and the like. Not too worried about power cuts its the problems with idiots clearing supermarket shelves as soon as they spot the first flake of snow that bothers me.

Hyundai Portable Silent Generator looks epic haha

I think they put that out there to justify yet another 8% rise in price

My gas is going on in November the Electric price rise always follows it.

No, because they're unlikely here being a net exporter of energy and electricity. If they were to happen, it would be suspect and prone to political embarrassment unless something external was somehow impacting on the situation.

Oh dear

After spending most of the previous 25 years as a net exporter of energy the UK became a net importer in 2004. The gap between imports and exports has increased since 2004 and this looks set to continue to increase in the future

Make no mistake the UK is on the wrong path when it comes to energy and supplies

No.

If there is one I'll just stop paying my bill! The feeling of doing that should warm me up plenty!

Interesting how many people seem to have an unflappable belief it couldn't happen to them.

For the sake of buying a few candles and putting a cardboard box of bits and pieces in a cupboard I think it is a wise precaution.

I like your thinking. If we do go independent next year we will have England's chuckies in the vice like the rest of the EU and Russia but for now we are the UK and the UK does not net export

Bahh.

Power was out for nearly a week once round our end 20 something years ago.

One of the best weeks of my life. Keeping it real, books, boardgames with the family.. little radio at night, open fire in the garden cooking stuff.

Bring it on, be no different to the weeks at a time i spend camping without anything electric side the little radio.. totaly by choice:)

People forget that it's possible to have fun and be creative... without electricity.

One of my main sources of entertainment are my acoustic musical instruments. No charging or power source needed... they run on human power!
