Jaguar F Type V6S vs Porsche Boxster S

I would drive both and buy the one i liked. Both are exceptional cars, it matters not what people on the internet would think. It's not like choosing a midrange hatchback where some of them are crap and some are good.

The jag whilst its in warranty, wouldn't really want even a modern Jag when there was the risk of me having to pay for things breaking constantly.

Then again its not like the Porsche is unbreakable! Plus they're both crackers from what I read

The Boxster is a fantastic drive, probably the better drivers car as well. But looks and noise wise the Jag is just so special and a thing of beauty, whereas a Boxster is just a Boxster.

There is quite a price difference between these two cars, about £20k. Surely if money is no problem then the Jag will win every time.

Hate to say it, agree with Fox. Drive both, buy the one that gets you rigid! On looks alone, the Porsche doesn't even come into it!

Both beautiful cars, nice choice to have. As impressive as F type is I'd go porker. In 20 years time it will still start first time every time.

But as has been said drive em both see which suits. Both cracking machinery.

As much as I love Jags, I'd go for the Boxster S.

The 2013 Boxster is one of the best looking cars ever made IMHO.

Still, driving both and seeing which you prefer seems the logical route.

Ok, personally I'd disagree, don't rate it at all... but beauty is and all that...

I'd have the F-type purely because it's so much more dramatic and theatrical on the road, so you don't have to drive it fast to enjoy it.

If only the interior was a little more high quality...

Up to you though, you'll have to try them!

I would do the research properly, and probably set myself on the Porsche. I'd get everything ready and go down to the Porsche dealership but then at the last moment change direction and get the Jag.

I was more so just raising discussion than properly deciding right now. Scouting out convertibles and hat options are out there.

The Porsche is undoubtedly the better handling, more agile of the two.

It's cheaper, arguably better interior quality, more reliable, better badge prestige.

The Jag is also less practical (what is up with THAT boot?!) and ridiculously heavy considering it's all aluminium.

The PDK is the better gearbox over the Jags 7 speed.

The soft top is faster on the Porsche.

I personally think there's very little looks wise between them.

BUT the Jag is more unique than a Boxster and definitely more of a showy car.

Hence sensible choice would be the Porsche... Look at me choice, the Jag!

I've owned a 2013 Boxster S and recently traded my Aston Martin for a V8S F-Type. Honestly, the Jag is one hell of a car; in fact I just returned from a 700 mile road rally last night in it. It was the surprise of the whole group, no-one expected it to do what it did. We did numerous roll-ons from varying speeds and even two up (I was the camera car), a 600hp 997TT couldn't keep up, ending in 2/3 car lengths at least on every pull. We repeated the same with one of the Gallardo's too, the result was even more embarrassing!

The Porsche is undoubtedly the better handling, more agile of the two. Yes, it is slightly more nimble than the Jag but then I have the V8s which is heavier which also won't help

It's cheaper, arguably better interior quality, more reliable, better badge prestige. The Boxster S is cheaper yes but mine had $24k of options on it, a lot of which I feel you do need. I think the F-Type falls down in the UK on this one as it's very expensive with options as well. Interior quality is IMO better on the Jag actually, far more expensive materials used. This is of course a rather moot point since the interior is excellent on the Boxster too.

The Jag is also less practical (what is up with THAT boot?!) and ridiculously heavy considering it's all aluminium. It is heavy yes but you won't feel it or notice it. As for the boot, it's actually larger than the Boxster's luggage space, just not a very useful shape. Don't get one with a spare wheel and you'll be fine.

The PDK is the better gearbox over the Jags 7 speed. It's an 8 speed ZF in the Jaguar and I'll be totally honest here and say it's the best gearbox I've *ever* driven, superior to the PDK, DSG and even the box in my MP4-12C. It does not drive like an auto at all, it feels like a dual clutch but with none of the drawbacks.

The soft top is faster on the Porsche. Yes I think it's 1s or so slower on the Jag but it looks cooler :p

I personally think there's very little looks wise between them. Boxster is a beautiful car, the Jag just gets so much attention though.

BUT the Jag is more unique than a Boxster and definitely more of a showy car.
