I give you £1000000 What are your first five items you buy?

1) Pay off student loan.
2) Buy a decent(ish) flat in London (500,000)
3 & 4) 200,000 each on properties to rent with good return
5) 80k left - some accessories from Paul Smith, Mulberry and Burberry, a Hermes 'Albert' bag, some nice suits, maybe Paul Smith again, maybe Tom Ford, get them custom tailored to fit. Some Canon lenses, a new Fiesta ST. Rest goes into savings (probably about 40k now, as spare liquid cash - can be dipped into for holidays and such, but given now my earnings only need to cover cost of living, I can probably afford a few holidays a year)

A house, preferably with a few acres of land
A large garage
Some kind of 4x4 or estate car
A Ferrari - probably not a new one as there won't be enough, so a maybe an F430
A Mikado Logo 700

Give £300k to my parents.
Pay off my debts and mortgage.
Buy a Jaguar XFR
Buy a nice sized house.
A swanky engagement ring.

Should have about £150k left after all that which is a rather nice cushion, ill rent out my current house and possibly buy another apartment or something outright and rent it out as well. Should provide a nice top up to current income, will mostly be disposable since ill have no mortgage. Life will be good.

All that money, and you get a fiesta.

With only 1mil,

1/cheapish house somewhere further into the country side, small town or large village, green, views, weather. Probably Dorset/Cornwall for better weather, huge house with space I want for the money rather than a tiny flat somewhere like London.
2/another house
3/land
4/renovate the second house and sell
5/build house(s) on land I bought... longer term

A mil if you were in your 60's would be a fantastic boost to a pension, at 16-40 is really no where near enough to make a life comfortable and I wouldn't pee it away, it's more than enough to get a decent house for yourself mortgage free and invest in something that can generate the kind of cash that can make you comfortable for life.

I'm 17 and i could honestly say im sure i would blow it on crap

5 x Properties @ 150k each returning around £500 per month each = £2500 per month return

Buy £250k house for myself. Along with my own wage and the £2500 rent per month will live well for the rest of my life.

b) coke and hookers?

I live in London. Most of the money is invested. I'll get the tube most days. All I really need a car for is having a hoot at weekends and long drives to family.

Fiesta has decent amount of space, is reasonably cheap, and the new ST has had some of the best reviews I've read. I don't need anything more.

If he'd said £100,000,000 it would be a different story, but now a days, £1,000,000 isn't really 'life changing'. It improves your quality of life substantially, but realistically you'll probably still need to work. No point buying a 458 to sit in the garage....

Two houses would probably net 20-40k a year in rent, (including costs), you'd probably still wanting to be earning 60k/year, and even then that doesn't really give you the disposable to afford running costs, maintenance etc... Of actually owning a supercar, plus paying bills on your own house, and keeping a decent standard of living. (See the aforementioned suits, add in nice meals out, holidays, shopping at waitrose, and similar, and all of a sudden you realise how little you have) - admittedly no mortgage, although I'd probably buy a third house to rent on a mortgage to help start a portfolio...

New House and furnishings, 4 bed, detached. Nothing flashy, just comfortable
New car (Jag XJL)
Small getaway cottage in the west country, 2 bed, very quaint
Small pleasure boat near the cottage,
Omega Seamaster planet ocean

Would 1mill be enough for all that though?

I would give £50k to each close family member :( If they need more i would consider it. -£150k
I would start renting a modest property with a garden and better transport to work. But if buying worked out better I would consider that. If i did buy a house i would try get mortgage with a low repayment as possible even though i could buy it out right.
Definitely buy a nice projector and new AV kit. But not too expensive.
Go on a lot of holidays. But nothing too expensive.
I would consider purchasing house in the UK or in other countries to rent out.
Get my drivers license in one of those intensive courses and then buy a few cars.
Probably start doing contract work rather than full time work. Just sit on the savings until I can find something good to do with it in terms of investment, too make me more money with the money.

Contract an architect to design a house.
Contract a builder to build said house.
A ticket to California.
A Singer 911.
Shipping container home for said 911.

1. Pay off mortgage & cc
2. New car for the wife - something tough & German
3. A car for me - something sexy & German
4. A skiing holiday
5. A loft conversion

That'd probably leave me with £650k left to share with friends & family.

1) Pay off mine and mrs debt (Including mortgage)
2) Buy a new range rover!
3) Sell existing house and buy a better one
4) Change a few bits on my PC and bjild a couple more!
5) Plain chocolate bounty and a can of fanta

Id bin the mrs off in a heart beat and move to thailand and get fatter and fatter while making the naitive talent squeal with pain under my sweaty white bulk.

1) money to parents.
2) new guitar
3) present for the girlfriend
4) pc
5) a lot of really good food.

1 million wouldn't really drastically change my plans that much. I'd still continue with my current short term plans, but with the knowledge that I can actually afford stuff.
