Pfft, 1.2 Clio on Avons ftw, I've had no problem fighting through the snow with this little beast, just careful driving and not acting like a moron (like most people I watch).

Been waiting for an opportunity to post this for ages. :D

My Focus will stay as it is but I will chuck a spade & a couple of old car mats in the boot.

The problem is a lot of people don't even know how to drive in the snow and everywhere ends up gridlocked or cars get abandoned all over the place stopping anyone getting anywhere. This then renders your winter tyres, chains, socks, whatever useless as you physically cant get anywhere.

I like driving in the snow but I'm scared of being hit by someone who doesn't really know what they are doing when it comes to snow/slush/ice driving so i'll probably just work from home should "THE WORST WINTER EVAR IS COMING!!!!11111" actually happen.

Could be worse, you could have an automatic like mine that pushes forward even when the front wheels are locked :)

I coped, I didn't really get stuck apart from having to stop on my hill with 2" of fresh snow coming down. Stop being wimps.

I have alloy wheels 225-40-18 so knew I wouldn't get anywhere in snow so bought 4 steel Mondeo wheels and good set of winter tyres - these work better than summer tyres from 7c down - they were fantastic last year in snow and have to say I would like to keep them on all year as they feel better and don't tramline like alloys.

And no need to clean them.

I would only bother with winter tyres if there is enough snow enough of the time to warrant it.
Cold temps on UHP summer tyres is hardly an issue unless you want to go setting record laps at the 'Ring.
