Hmm now I feel very confused.
Oh dear!
Indeed, not a good start!.
But pretty much everything on that page is on-line elsewhere on different news websites in smaller chunks.

The Wiki article is quite a good read. I wasn't aware how crooked the original instpector on the case was. Seems like the Portuguese police did an awful lot to balls it up and point the finger at the McCanns. Despite the British DNA findings being totally inconclusive they leaked reports which stated DNA evidence was a "100 percent match."
Personally i think the Portuguese authorities were worried about the negative impact the case was going to have on tourism in the area and when these theories started they knew the media would lap them up and turned on the McCanns. They seemingly ignored the British evidence on the DNA and pushed forward with the accusation.
I can't help feel that if this had happened in this country then the case would have been solved.

Take from that site what you will, but if I had had time to collate all the numerous amounts of evidence, it's probably something similar that I would have come up with.

They are saying the time in question is between 8.30pm & 10.00pm, So the kids weren't checked every half hour then ?
They are also saying it was pre planned, If that was the case wouldn't the Dude have a car/van waiting rather than walking through the streets carrying a child ?

If you look at the timeline, the children were checked every 30 minutes.
When Gerry checked on them at 9pm, Madeline was there. Why the timeline extends beyond that is that there is a remark that the door looked to have been opened more than it was previously. So there is a chance the abductor might actually be hiding in the room already.
It's suggested that if the sighting is the guy carrying Madeline, then Kate missed it by just a few minutes.
