Been reading where there are problems with this card with it over heating often and how noisy it is when running under load, so am wondering if there are any people here who have this card and can shed some light on this?

I am looking at buying a new system, but keeping it below the £800 level and so have been looking at the Ati 7950 3gb or GTX 760. I'm not interested in having an OC version and am happy to leave it at stock.

pro/con please

I'm using the MSI 7950 Twin Frozr III and never had any trouble with temperatures. Normally around 50 degrees or below when gaming. The fan can get a bit noisy over 50% but it doesn't usually get hot enough for that.

It really does vary per card. Some run hotter than others, even the same model.

Temps can vary wildly depending on how much use the card is getting! Eg. If the game being played is capped at 60fps by v-sync it's likely the card will not be maxed out and temps can be low (for me World of Warcraft or Fifa 14 run at about 50 - 55 Celsius which is very cool).

If the card is being put under 100% use I've seen temps as high as 80 Celsius with overclock of 1100 - 1150 core using 1.18v in games like Sleeping Dogs or Tomb Raider.

Noise wise depends what cooler you have, anything over 45% for me is audible, and anything over 55% is pretty annoying unless you have the sound up and this is with a His IceQ cooler.

If you keep the card stock it should be fine for both temps and noise TBH.

MSI strikes again... 50c is nothing, create a custom fan profile in MSI AB or whatever app your using, you should be able to get it silent and still have good temps.

Yeah, I am running a custom profile but not quite as mellow as that. I will adjust mine and see how it runs.
